Generally upping the pressure will create more unforced errors by Trump and his team. Polls will get better for KH, the stress on the Trumpster will increase. I expect Trump will then start to talk about the crooked election.

WRT the border issue, I will remind you of 2 facts, all part of the public record, nuffies like you forget:
1. Trump had 4 years to fix the border. That's all he had to do, it was his main policy and he didn't. He spent his time crippling the US response to Covid that resulted in American dying 10x the rate of us in Oz.
2. The Dems worked with the GOP to craft a border bill and it was ultimately rejected by the GOP. Why? Because it would remove one avenue of attack for Trump.

Added - forgot to say, Australians don't directly select the candidates the parties put up. So are we all communists?

JFC. This has been done to death already.

Yes, ideally for any party nominee, you would have a robust primary.

However, this is not the case in all circumstances.

Incumbents, like Biden was, rarely face any notable challenge. This was the case with Trump in 2020, where ol Bill Weld, who had run on the Libertarian ticket previously, gathered a monumental 1 delegate. Various state GOP committees cancelled their primaries/caucuses entirely. Very democratic.

Party primaries are not strict democracies, not even fairly democratic, whether Democrat or Republican. It's disengenuous to pretend they are. They have their own rules about what to do if candidates drop out, in this case it's before the confirmation of candidates at the convention.

In the Democrats case, some delegates become free agents and coalesced around Harris. There are also delegates tied to other candidates who place in respective states, but since Biden romped it in, this isn't the case. So I can only assume some of these were free to align with Harris too.

One on hand you say Biden was the most popular (no-one said this, vast majority of Dems wanted him to drop out) and due to bad polling dropped out... This was his choice alone and the pressure he faced was fair enough. He was not booted out.

In contrast to primaries/caucuses, which are not entirely or fairly democratic, with either party, and yes could do with reform, you have only one party and candidate who knowingly conducted widespread fraudulent attempts to circumvent an actual democratic election. And it's not the Democrats, Biden or Harris.
