USA 2024 US Presidential Election: Trump vs Harris (pt II)

The republicans, murdoch media and online platforms have expertly got people riled up about culture war issues, most largely have nothing to do with the Democratic Party and it’s usually them taking some fringe issue and making it seem huge.

Then the people who buy into it will vote against their best economic interests taking on this imaginary woke bogeyman.
Good luck. If that what u learned from this election… try it again in 4 years and see how u go.

Like i said… self reflection is the only way for the dems to win against trump like campaigns.

...and thumbs up to racism, a felon and a rapist. Good job at weaponising the word 'woke'.

Identity politics is a losing strategy.

This election proved that once and for all. Most voters don't care about a person's skin colour, sex, sexual orientation or faith. They are focused on health, wellbeing, opportunity and general prosperity.

The sooner Dems learn this lesson, the better prepared they will be for the mid-terms.

Be interesting to see what happens in the 2026 mid terms?

The Republicans will lose some seats in the Senate and Reps, and then a flood of articles about "buyers remorse" from the MSM will follow, with the Democrats and the media obstructing, frustrating, blocking, mis-representing, hyperbolizing and catastophizing Trumps government. 2016-2018 all over again.

Its pretty simple what happened.

It's the economy, stupid.

When was the last time the economy got worse and the incumbent party won?

In 1980 the economy had tanked, 84 it was good, 88 it was good, in 92 it was good, however, much like this year, the perception of the economy was that it was in recession. Data would later show the recession ended 20 months before the election. 96 was good. 2000 had the dot com crash in the summer. 2004 was just ok. 2008 it was a disaster. 2012 it was improving. 2016 might be the exception but people's perception of the economy was also bad. 2020 it had tanked from covid. Polls in January showed Trump winning re-election. and 2024 70% of voters thought the economy was bad.

I questioned weather or not this economy factor would still decide elections. I wasn't sure Republicans could actually win the popular vote or make large gains, but this election proves to me its still the deciding factor. Further evidenced by the fact Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut all moved sharply to the Republicans, the closest votes in these states since Bush 41. More evidence of this is Democrats winning either 4 or 5 senate seats in the swing states Trump flipped, clearly Democrats voting for the economy at the top of the ticket but voting party line down ballot.

So you’re saying the Republicans are incapable of taking the high road? That tracks.

They did. Mutliple times. Enough is enough.

TBH that isn' even my purpose.

No-one here will be honest and say they knew of the Democrats past shananigans with respect to blocking Judicial nominations. They simply believed the MSM narrative of the stacked Supreme Court oblivious to how it got there.

Just like the narrative the South is an economic basket case when it is growing faster and contributes more GDP than some key Democrat States. Nobody checks because it confirms what they want to believe.

I know of a person who practised fraudulently in there field for 40 years . They avoided jail barely . They were given a character reference by some one well respected in their field ( not the persons field ) . I have little respect to that person . So yes character counts
If Pence hadnt shown character and rejected Trumps pressure , Eastman fraudulent plans could have eventuated
Personally I thought he was wishy-washy on it and needed the advice and reassurance of Quayle and (I can't remember who) to actually go through with it.

MAGA don't care about skin colour, sex, sexual orientation or faith? C'mon.

Boy what a shewd move that was. Garland has shown his true colours as AG. Glad he is nowhere near the bench.
Garland is a judge, he should be deciding cases, not making decisions. I think he's never been a prosecutor before and it shows. He's totally out of his depth being AG. I think he would have been an excellent SCOTUS justice as he clearly weighs the cases on their merits, not on the political winds.

Yikes looks like Kari Lake may win,
Last big batch seems to be from Cochise County which leads leads my a mile.
I read somewhere if the GOP get 54 or more senate seats they will hold senate majority even if every 50/50 seat goes against them in the 2026 midterms. If Kari wins they will have four years of senate control, that's crazy.
