The only reason that Trump is popular, or even has the ability to stand in the elections at all, is due entirely to the Democrats.

They refused to put him to trial after Jan 6, and instead held a series of inquiries to cover up the extent of Trump's coup attempt (the backing for it within the Republican party and the military/intelligence agencies).

Why?

Because, as Biden himself said in 2021, he insisted that America needed a "strong Republican" party. In that way, he hoped to stabilise the two party political system and gain bipartisan support for his administration's drive to escalate war in Ukraine.

Any real attempt to expose the full extent of Trump's attempt to overthrow the American Constitution, and the fascist forces supporting him, would have provoked a social explosion which the Democrats feared far more than a resurrection of Trump and his fascist politics.

Vast sections of the population in US are only listenting to Trump because the Biden administration has ruthlessly enriched Wall St at the expense of the working population, and has given full support to the genocide in gaza.

The unions are totally pro Biden, and in the pocket of the corporate elite. Every union contract negotiated by the AFL-CIO enshrines the destruction of pensions, the imposition of poverty level wages for new hires, and below inflation pay increases for others.

Low income families have had a gutful of the economic misery they are experiencing under the Biden administration. Trump, like any fascist demagogue, comes along and actually mentions the social crisis they confront (unlike Harris, who lives a reality similar to that of Marie Antoinette).

Trump claims that he has a "solution", and he actually refers to the social impoverishment that has descended on so many families.

Into the political vacuum strides Trump.

And the vacuum has been created by the Democrats.

Obama and Harris in their limelight performance presented Trump as a "goof", a "crazy", a figure of ridicule. They refuse to warn the population that Trump, from day 1 if he wins will impose a dictatorship, and if he loses, will organise fascist militia and an armada of extreme right wing lawyers to contest the election result and threaten vote counters.

In the US, democracy is collapsing, under the weight of extreme social inequality compounded by out off control military spending.

The only way out is for the working class to build a party which reflects its interests. This will be an anticapitalist party, because the US election is a manifestation of the implosion of world capitalism.
