It’s another example of the naked gaslighting we get bombarded with.

Anyone should reasonably expect to make a Grand Final when you finish top-2.

2002: 1st/nope
2003: 1st/nope
2004: 1st/IS THIS REAL LIFE
2007: 2nd/yeah but
2020: 1st/nope
2021: 2nd/nope

Bloody Port supporters and their CRAAAAAAZY expectations.

Success is never linear.

Pressure is building , does Kane have a breaking point at which he finally admits its time. Big like his old man in that he will never admit he is wrong. Time will tell.

Kane is conflicted - he has a personal relationship with Ken from his playing days and his brother is basically employed by him.

Kane will be a Ken apologist even after he gets sacked. It's not up to him, it's up to the rest of the media. We are way too small a club for it to be a big story at 0-3. But ultimately the media love a coach sacking and it will be an irresistable story to even the Victorians once we get to the real nasty 1-8/2-12 type stuff.

Also said that the expectation that port play in Grand Final are 'impossible, only two teams make it that far every year'.

Yes Kane. And we want to be one of them.

fu**stick.
Lol last week he said it would be Grand Final or bust for Ken this year (I think on Classified). Has he changed his tune already now that he knows we're no chance?

We'll be 2-13 and Ken finally gets the sack, and the media narrative will still be it was the unrealistic expectations of hysterical supporters wot done it.
Its amazing isn't. Its not like Koch, KT, Richo, and Hinkley have been hyping us up for a flag since the 2014 finals series.

**** me...

Kornes first week "Its gonna have to be a grand final appearance, or he probably will his job."

Kornes second week "The hard part for me was the expectation is to play off in a grand final and to go one better and that's what the fans expected now that's near on impossible... it was always unfair on Ken, any talk that you're gonna move on from him this year is I think, ridiculous."

Words mean nothing...

Weird.

Almost like someone's given him a 'call' to kick the can a little bit.

Watching his "defence" of Hinkley on 9's Footy Show this morning he's a utterly weak disgrace. Kane throws headlines out about every other coach under the pump but not his mate Ken. Clearly Kane was told by someone not to go to hard on Ken, likely from Ken himself. No balls at all to call it out for what is going on at the club.

Someone get Tredders jabbed for godsake, he tells it as he sees it not the weak nonsense Kane throws out.

Meh. It's easy enough to keep the heat at bay when you're 0-3. Let's see what it looks like at 1-8 or 2-12.

0-3, sure. The issue is that Port are largely out of the limelight. Ok so they've had 2 Saturday night games that were nationally televised but games against Brisbane and Hawthorn aren't exactly moving the needle in Victoria.

Melbourne on Thursday night is a different story altogether. Prime time, against the premiers at home. You get towed up by 10 goals in this game, and it firmly will be a case of "not if, but when" (he's sacked). You can only hide behind a narrative for so long - but when you go up against the best teams when everyone's watching, there's no room to hide - the narrative quickly will crumble.

Yeah except knowing us we won't get cleaned up by 10 goals, we'll put in an 'admirable' effort and lose by 4 goals in a game we never really looked like winning. We'll cop a little heat for 0-4 and a few Owen memes before everyone moves on to the rest of the weekend's footy.

And then we'll be left to wallow in our own misery with a side serving of Rucci gaslighting us into thinking 0-4 forms some bizarre, non-linear path to success and was all just part of the plan immediately after making 2 prelims in a row.

"Unfair on Ken...."

He's 10 years in, had a plethora of elite level support staff come and go, has had every recruit he's asked for to "fill a hole" handed to him on a platter, and expecting him in year 10 to finally make a grand final is apparently "unfair on Ken". Oh....my......****ing.....GOD!!! Do you even hear yourself, weaker of the Cornes brothers?

I miss Tredders in the media. Doesn't bow down to anyone, says it like he see's it.

Good (but not great) player in his prime. His last 1.5 playing seasons were average as Hinkley gifted him 300.

Whether it’s because Kane feels like he’s still in Hinkley’s debt or not, Kane is incredibly selfish in what he’s been saying. By not criticising Hinkley, Kane is knowingly willing to let his club fall and stay down. No objective person could defend Hinkley after 10 years. 10.

It’s bewildering, but maybe it’s in the Cornes name - it’s all about me me me me me.

Can't wait for Chad to be sacked as well, need to rid ourselves of this family there's not an ounce of Port Adelaide in the lot of them.
Chad Cornes at his best was a remarkable footballer. But post retirement i've always felt we're not much more than a vehicle for him to stay in the AFL system so he can avoid having to get a real job, whilst being able to live in his beloved Adelaide.

Nothing surer than someone in his ear - let alone the conflict of interest he has with Chad's employment dependant on hinkley remaining in the job.

The way he is compromised, it's ridiculous that he should be even commenting.

I guess we'll just have to wait until Kane says it's ok to sack him....probably the day his brother loses his job at the club.

GWS were like sure seeya when he left, no fight to keep him on staff.

I'm not convinced he's become this positive approachable influence on all, sure maybe if you are in Chucks muscle car & motorcycle clique otherwise you get barbed on air like Wingard.

I love Chadbro - he was the most Port Adelaide out of all of them and the way he was treated by Primus at the end of his career was a bloody disgrace.

But you're right, he's too rusted on to Ken and there's also the issue of Kane and Gra Gra having a direct line to the inner sanctum of the club, which we don't flipping need.
