Controversial maybe, but I thought Rodan was our best player across 2008-2012.

From a spectator POV he was the only one who looked like he could change the momentum of a game.

Also, a B&F is not always the best player but the one player who did what the coach asked them to do. If Kornes tagged his man successfully he'll get the max coaches votes after the game, that's why he won 4 of them.
Rodan was definitely exciting and gave his all but I'm always reminded what a mate said about him in that he was so unpredictable with ball in hand that it would have been a nightmare as a forward trying to time a lead to him.

This one caught all of the forwards out of position.

He was going for glenelg against us in that grand final a couple of yrs back says it all .
Says good luck to "Our Bays" against Port Adelaide while wearing a Prison Bars jumper and playing 300 games for Port Adelaide.

Just checked on line, Cornes had a role as a development coach at Glenelg post retirement, not sure for how long thoug
Who cares if he was?
That was in 2016 don't think he did it that long but he was inducted into ports hall of Fame in 2019 the same yr of the gf .

Kornes played some exceptional games in 07, I seem to recall him having a 37 disposal, 3 goal game against Melbourne maybe?

i recall Melbourne being the shittest professional sports team you can imagine around then

You don't play 300 games, win multiple Best and Fairest awards and play a pivotal role in a flag unless your a very good player.
The people that sh#t on Kane and Chad fuc#in baffle me. If every player that walked through Alberton applied themselves as diligently as Kane did then we wouldn't all be pissing and moaning of only having one flag in our AFL history, we'd have multiple flags by now.

Clearly he cares, maybe some of the players he helped develop played in that Grand Final, he has ties to the club, played juniors there too.
Scott Hodges goes for Collingwood by all accounts, Choco Williams barracks for Melbourne when they play Port currently.
Maybe Kane deems Port in the SANFL for what it really is, a feeder team for the AFL side. Maybe a flag for Glenelg means more for that club, him and his family.
It is possibly to love more than one club.

Kornes also loves the club and respects the history, which is more than what can be said about some of those players that you often hear are supposedly ranked higher than kornes in our best players lists but were never even on the podium for a b n f or close to ever getting an all Australian.

On stats & dodgy b&f's perhaps but on a list based on talent & match winners you'd be the flog.
No doubt there's been more talented players at Alberton which makes his achievements even more admirable in my opinion.
Cornes didn't have the skills of a Josh Francou or Gavin Wanganeen, not many players do, he did however push himself and got absolutely everything out of himself, not many players do that either.

Dodgy Best and Fairest awards my ass, look at some of the players that played in those teams, Peter Burgoyne, Shaun Burgoyne, Robbie Gray, Travis Boak, Warren Tredrea, champions of the club.
If Kane wasn't the son of Graham then there wouldnt even be this thread.

Kornes' success as a tagger doesn't enhance his reputation.

Other taggers in his era included Cameron Ling, Ryan Crowley, Robert Shirley and Steven Baker.

Being the best tagger was often unheralded and delegated to midfielders to free up better mids.

Sounds like the ultimate team man to me, sacrificing his own game for the betterment of his team-mates whilst still busting a gut to get plenty of the ball himself.

Kane obviously did exactly what was asked of him by his coaches to win 4 x Best and Fairest Awards during his career.
Ling, Crowley and Baker all won one Best and Fairest award at their respective clubs which goes to show that a good tagger is highly respected within AFL clubs.

Primus tried to get rid of Kane as well, takes huge mental fortitude to win a Best and Fairest under such circumstances.

Believe he was still in the leadership group of the Hinkley fluffing team, let's call it even.

The only player on that list that had any offensive capability was Ling.
