Thank you bobneil. Receipt of your PhD thesis is acknowledged. The academic board will consider your application in due course.

Disagree. I think the Canberra deal is a necessary evil. We make a sh1tload from the ACT government. It puts us on side with the AFL who see us as a viable option to push a little into that market. We win there. In a perfect world it would not be required, but I think it is at this stage.
I take all that on board. I see it as a matter of focus and the club is focussed in the wrong market(s) selling the wrong product to a non existent customer base. Just my take on it and I can see merit in what you say. I wasn’t just referring to the Canberra games but the name change as well.

We'll have to change that. No use being liked.
Hey, that’s our line.

When I was a small kid I used to live in Flemington and my old man’s best mate was a North member. He used to take is to a lot of North games. I have memories of my old man sneaking under the fence to avoid paying (times were tough) and me standing between old ladies on the fence probably be an annoying little you know what. Anyway, I’ll be hoping North win it and Sav kicks the sealer. My heart won’t really be in it though.

Actually when I was a slightly bigger kid, minus the old man, we lived in Sunshine and the Footscray President was a family friend. He got me a Dogs membership and I used to watch them a bot so I wouldn’t mind them winning it either. After all the Footscray President did get me my 1977 GF tickets and we did get rolled by North. Might have to reassess…

We'd love to get a call through to the AFL, but the lines are busy with Malthouse crying about the umpiring, Eddie crying about, well Eddie crying, Pies supporters crying about being s h i t e, Malthouse drying about the time, Eddie crying about, well Eddie just crying, and the lines busy with Pies supporters tring to get information on who they will get from another priority pick.

But you do not have respect.

And you know it.

Well that got rid of Zeke, unless he's planning some witty image-related comeback (albeit a belated one).

Pity he let you down in so many finals? You shoulda won 3+!

Should I go through the finals stats again Mark?

It makes wonderous reading, so it really is no trouble.

Look, this is between me and 'im and at least as far as I'm concerned it's tongue in cheek but go for your life. The stats read 2 wins though. IMO there should have been more. Carey was ordinary in a few early prelims and a GF loss no matter what stats you want drag up. Greatest of all time is a big tag and warrants supreme finals performances as a matter of course. It's all subjective though and I freely admit I don't like the bloke (Carey not "noddy the automatic Collongwood wise crack" over there).

The Kangaroos have angrily rebutted Collingwood president Eddie McGuire's claims that the two clubs have a "deal" to avoid jumper clashes. McGuire is staunchly resisting moves from the AFL to force each club to have an alternative jumper next year, claiming the black-and-white stripes are sacrosanct.

Speaking on Fox Footy's On The Couch, McGuire said the Magpies did not need to change because the only possible clash was with the Roos, with whom they have a "deal".

"Our decision on what jumper to wear is based on a lot of things, that include sponsors primarily, but not the Collingwood football club," Kangaroos marketing director Peter Filopoulous said. "There have never been any formal or informal discussions with Collingwood - it has never even been on our radar - with any club for that matter, about accommodating them to change our jumper. It's done in advance, those decisions are made on the best interests of the Kangaroos."

The Kangaroos also attacked McGuire's assertions about the club's financial position.

"The North Melbourne Football Club is in receipt of $1 million a year from the AFL competitive balance fund, not $2-$2.5 million as McGuire suggested," a statement said.

"Of the three clubs who received assistance through the fund in 2005, this was the least amount allocated to any club."

Collingwood skipper Nathan Buckly says his side could disappoint some Pies fans on Saturday in the so-called mockbuster with Carlton at the MCG. "It's a bit sad to hear any supporters who talk about losing to get priority picks, but I can say for sure that isn't in our thoughts," he said

Well if there is an organised oppostion at the AGM this year I will participate, other than that I have no choice but to bide my time and wait for a viable alternative to present itself that I can get behind.

And Mark, with your background you know exaclty what I am talking about re 'reviews'.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at your AGM.
It will be very interesting to see how eddie stifles any sort of debate on issues such as the review of the football department.

For getting his facts wrong?

Hardly.

MarkT said:
Sued? For what exactly?

for publicly stating the wrong facts about a multi-million dollar business which relies heavily on public perception and promotion

is a potential sponser going to look more favourably at a club who need's a annual $1million or $2.5million assistance payment.

Is that a serious question?
