By who? Just because he's black doesn't mean there was racial abuse.

His opponent Munro apparently. A mate of a poster on here who was at the game, texted him to say he heard Kirby tell Rivers Munro was racist. I paraphrase. It's in the VFL thread.

IF True I hope the report it too AFL Victoria

We should now be looking to play some of the kids, give them a taste of AFL footy and a sense of the step up and extra work required to consistently perform at the next level. We are now playing for draft picks and to get some experience into the younger players on our list.

Dare I say it but I feel the rest of the season is about preparing for the post Buckley era, (and I love Bux, am a huge fan).

As an addenda to that, I would love to see Bux retained in a backroom role such as football department manager or development manager or some such position at the club.

Kirby should be given a game in my opinion.
However having said that I know that if he is given an opportunity and doesn't star in his first appearance there will be a plethora of people on here saying he is not any good, needs to go back to the VFL, isn't fit enough blah blah blah, after one game.

If you think I am being unfair have a look at the Brown thread.

On that you are correct.
For any younger one getting a game, they should have ability to run it out and be ready enough on that score

But I'm still looking forward to when he is ready

(Then the heat will be on other players that can fill that role)

That's very Buckley thinking of you.

Impact players don't always have marathon - esque endurance. Look at Stewie Dew and Dean Rioli. If you say different era well guess what the Mids in those days ran more then they do now! on GPS the gun forwards then, ran what mids do now.
Buckley and Tarrant were 20km a game and 16kms a game runners tracked by GPS. Guess what Pendles averages in the midfield last I read? yup roughly 16km.

Kirbys fitness would get him through a game for the most part with smart use of interchanges and player positional rotations.

Interesting take, unsure I've been insistent on being a marathon.
More my side of the argument is he can cope with afl levels, if so, yep let's get him in, if not, patience won't hurt.

Just don't want to burn him in a way that's too deterimental. I'd say if he's at level to get in amongst it in the seniors, sure.

Ps thanks for saying that's Buckley thinking, I like that compliment :)

Adverse to taking a risk.

I'd be happy to see him given a crack as early as this round. Ideal alternative to Crocker or Brown if as expected they're going back to VFL and Elliott isn't yet available. Have no expectations that he'd have a major impact, but wouldn't be at all surprised by it if he did.

So he may play well but he may not...

Give him a game! At least he will find out what's required on and off field.
He could surprise! His tackles stick!
He's a fav, but heard he's heavy on the tooth!
Mmmm chippies!

I doubt he's ready but I certainly wouldn't be averse to giving him a run. Probably didn't do himself any favours though with a 5 possession game last week, despite the 2 goals.
