Hank you may have given VT some recruiting ideas. They have apparently approached new recruits and existing players from rival teams. Rutley Bros and Mellington are some that have been mentioned. Getting quality players in from outside the league makes the KDFL stronger and is fair enough but offering ridiculous amounts of money for these players is "Very poor form Peter".
Yep, VT has re invented the wheel when it comes to speaking to players from the same league, pull your head out of the sand old mate and have a good look at years gone by with clubs like Stanhope and Gig, its been going on for years. As for the money, how do you know what they are on as the money offered is certainly not ridiculous. Perhaps you need to spend more time reseaching the facts than worrying about your dogs sexual preferences,. Chin up buddy;)

Are these the same Rutleys that played at Boort? Would b getting a bit long in the tooth by now wouldnt they?
Age shall not weary them, Rob kicked 90 odd last year so still making some of the backs look silly one would suggest..So the lure of 1k a game and $150 a goal on top of that you would think that the ton may be on the cards next year.:p

I know, I know, this has been going on since the dawn of time, still doesn't sit right (I hope this doesn't awaken Carrot from his slumber). Appreciate the honesty regarding the 1k per game for the Rutley package I didn't know about the $150 per goal as well:). If you have the cash good luck and spend well. I was looking forward to hearing about new players coming into the league though. Regarding my dog she is quite satisfied with her sexuality as am I.:p

Most of it was tongue in cheek, at least you have a sense of humour, good bloke doggy:thumbsu:

I'm very sure about it Speedy. Ramadan Yze is great mates with Merrigum Assistant coach Glenn Hart from Cricket at CP/StB. Sali and Ramadan coming together. Is your questioning from some other info you have or just surprised that Sali has jumped from the Bats?

Lanky was made aware by Shane after he trained with us before Christmas that merrigum had put an offer to him for him and his brother and lanky wished the Sali's all the best because the offer was well over and i mean well over what lanky was prepared to pay him.

The gum should improve again this year but I would have thought they may have recruited a little better then they have!!

Lanky is quiet happy at where they are at and I would expect to see them back forwards the top this year.

Hi to the new spokesman for Lancaster..
Laughable about your figures. As I said the "deal" had to do with Ramma who was never going anywhere but to us if he was leaving the GVL. Which was the reason for Shane to leave Lancaster. I keep forgetting the Bats never pay money to anyone, ever..
Losing your CHB who helped improve Lancaster in the second half of 2012 and the leagues best onballer (in my opinion) Steve Thompson.. I can see why Lanky will be back "forwards" the top... I'm sure there are recruits on the way, but they will need to be very good.
I'm sure your right. The boys at Lanky are always "happy with where they are at" irritatingly so.. Bit early to make judgements on other clubs recruiting efforts though, as the Calender just told me its still half way through Cricket season. No predictions from me on how The Gum will fare. But I do agree we should improve again. ;)

Any clubs back on the track for the new season? Stanhope back next week, believe Tally are the same. Whilst Girgarre started this week. Will be interesting to see/hear about the new recruits on the track.

Murchison start back next week, Ardy started this week.

Merrigum definitely pulled it together during the 2012 season taking some prized scalps and will be hoping to sure up a finals spot this year.
Good mate of mine, Nick Bertoli will do a great job at Lancaster as AC, probably as a CHB or back flanker.
Agree probably too early for big predictions, but I hope Ardy and Longwood challenge a few more sides and that a very long premiership drought can be broken! Cheers to 2013

HAVE I MISSED SOMETHING!! Has shane sali achieved anything in football that could possibly demand that coin??????? My god merrigum you have buggered up there.. if i was a coach and was spending 750 a game on 1 player he would need to kick a 100 or win the medal or close to it or clearly be the best defender in the comp and knowing and playing with shane he is ABSOLUTELY none of the above.. As for rum i heard m,pna are happy to see the back of him as they wanted to spend his coin elsewhere and get some quality for that coin.. Was told m,pna pay cut him to 150 and he said seeeee yyyyyaaaaa laateeeerrrr aligator!!

Points taken Marco, if this was the case.. Long, way off the mark these figures. When you start believing figures on BigFooty as gospel there really is cause for concern.. I was suprised to learn from a (very reliable source) what the Violet Town guns were actually on as well, and it was significantly less than what was bandied around on these boards!
Just yesterday looking at the GVL forum I was shaking my head at the money being talked about there, and the debate of who gets what, its speculation and usually incorrect. To those who haven't been on a committee, maybe the experience would do you no harm. There is plenty to be paid for before player payments, and clubs would be making a serious tilt at a flag to spend this sort of dough at this level. Don't believe me if you wish, but our pay structure is quite fair and not obscene!

Hank or Mainland. Any news out of the Mainland? Have heard that there is players coming from Bendigo way. Any light on this or ex players returning? All getting paid $1,800 per week each for what it's worth:p !

If the gossip is correct then Sali is accually on more than what Wheels was on last year.If Merrigum have the money then who are we to judge who and how they spend it .. Good luck to them..

One of the better responses to player payment accusations.

Think you'll find that rum was 100% a wanted player at mpna, had a very good year last year n will be a very very good player out at the gum.... Cats just couldn't match the gum offer!

My mail is that any coin at Merrigum will be directly related to performance; incentives. Incentives were a novel idea where players who rated themselves could prove this by playing well and earning cash. Bad day at the office, no money. As an aside, interesting comments on the O and M thread regarding enforceability of player contracts, apparently they are a two way instrument.

Hearing whispers that former u18 premiership superstar and centurion goal kicker, Frank Caldow, is considering a return to the Gum, along with Engwerta.. Bit of excitement out at doggy land, which will be good for The league.
