Typical weak act from a sniper, Why wasn,t he booked!!!!THEY are also weak[umpires]you
would think the umpires adviser wouldn,t be real happy.Lets just hope this goes to the tribunal by means
of an investigation and Luke Chapman gets what he deserves he won,t need a lot for him to be deregisted
I just hope Geoff is ok [top player and top guy

Well guys It was on the win news, even though we asked them not to...
Agreed swoopin pie. It wasn't necessarily very late but the broken eye socket and cheekbone in multiple places speaks for itself in intent, which was certainly not for the ball. Chapman carried on all game and this hit was in the dying minutes when it was pretty clear that Merrigum were going to win.
From the clubs perspective Geoff is one of the clubs great Footballers and blokes. We will support him as he certainly doesn't deserve this on his Saturday afternoon.
It's a shame also as many from both clubs are mates and having a good rapport with Murch as a club. No one deserves this crap, it ain't footy, Its not tough. Connally on the other hand took his kick, didn't remonstrate and played the game out. That's how he is and that's what real toughness and courage is folks..

Also the umpire was in a perfect position but was only a 16 year old kid. It was the first 50m penalty he'd ever paid. I'm guessing he was too intimidated to place a report. He copped it all day. Pretty scary I would expect from blokes twice his age.. Nonetheless he will have some questions to answer and lessons to learn from a pretty fiery match. Perhaps with a top of table clash with some personnel that were on the field. There needs to be more thought put into who is rostered on to officiate games that have the potential to turn ugly.

Big call swooping pie bagging the officials. There was 6 umpires on the day and they make mistakes like players. I did not see any bulldogs run in to remonstrate or did they like the umpires think it was just 2 players in the air going for the ball,i think you are allowed to punch the ball away. It was not a late hit.
I think too many get carried away with gossip and blame without understanding the facts. Watching the news I would say the umpire has made the correct decision and its just unfortunate that the player was injured but players get injured all the time it is football remember.Umpires cannot be blamed for injuries.Shouldnt investigations be for incidents off the ball that umpires cannot see?

Hmm I'll do my best to exercise restraint.. No it's not football. The guy has a bad reputation, and where there is smoke there's fire. The ball was in the vicinity as Joffa marked in front of him. While the hit wasn't very late I'd say Chappy is seriously outdoing himself by playing senior football IF he is THAT uncoordinated! I'd say investigations are to investigate any incidents that should be investigated. I'd think the issue here is that the investigation should have already been under investigation... If it was the other way around, would you take the same stance I wonder?? It will all be based on FACTS as I'm not sure if you are aware but that is the purpose of any investigation.. Incorrect FACTS again, as they certainly did "remonstrate!"

Godzilla just because somebody disagrees with your opinion does not mean you need to get abusive. It is terrific that you pull on the white shirt to umpire & help the game go on. I also agree with you about the sliding rule. However I still say 99% of footy followers & players have never read the rules or watched the rules DVD. By the way I spent about 20 hours a week helping my club so you are very busy if you spend 3 times as much time as I do.

I wasn't bothered by being disagreed with it was that you assumed ,you could have asked have you ever umpired , you just guessed that I have not , and I have to say sorry as I don't do 3 times as much as you it would only be about double , I have a coaching role at a senior club , coach a junior club in a different league also president of that club and a league delegate , and work a full time job , lucky my employer understands how passionate I am to help out , seek to understand But well done to you for helping your club out that much , more people should be doing that !

That is what the investigation should bring out the facts.however it sounds like people are already convinced of guilt including blaming the umpires for not reporting.Did I miss the remonstration on TV?? No case should be discussed in the media of in this forum where everyone comes to conclusions including blaming officials of the game.No wonder we cannot get umpires for reserves games.

What channel [thorgil] were you watching are we talking about the same game!Yes you
are allowed to punch the ball away Well why didn,t he. No he instead chose to hit him in
the head which is a big part of his game

Lee and Williams back this week TO finish off the year with VT Don't know about Whelan as he
has a shoulder injury. Can any one on BF CONFIRM THIS .IT makes sense as their side won,t
make finals so by letting them go they are saving heaps.

You would think another 2 weeks on the good cash before jumping back to VT. shit wish we had already played them lol

Not that I know much about the HDFL, but surely Leichville still have a reasonable chance of making finals?

They're only 1 game outside the top 4 with 9 games to play. With the exception of round 1 when Lockington got a hold of them they seem to be reasonably competitive with the other finals contenders.

If they are leaving as speculated, perhaps is for different reasons. Seems a long bow otherwise.

The story is that they were going to pull the pin after the weekend if they lost, got up by 7pts to still keep them in the hunt for a finals berth. They want to return but are waiting until they are out of finals contention, if that doesn't happen before June 30th then things could get interesting!

Lets hope they make finals[hank] But in saying that if they did come back they
will need them if they are to match it with the Doggies Stanhope and murch
who are heaps better than last year While nagambie and lancy are more than
capable !!!!!

Yes but not in the KDL they have tried hard to be competitive over the years but to
no avail. OandK still looks their best option?

If they are willing to keep having a go I say let them keep trying Merrigum were down for ages , ardy the same and they are fighting back , rushy went thru it not winning a game for a season or two, if the off field is ok then the on field will follow eventually it does take time thou , as long as they aren't forfeiting games , hope it does turn for them :)

Should be interesting Hank - Leitchville have Elmore (haven't won a game), Lockington (top) & then a bye on June 29. In the same period all other teams chasing the last finals spots play one another.

Based on this I would've thought little will change regarding Leitchville's ladder position by June 30.

Yeah agree, they are still going to be in the hunt and mathematically in the mix, might come down to the LBU game and if they are ultra competitive (win or have there chances) they may stay, but if LBU blows them out of the water then I would think they will be back at VT.

Sadly, it speaks more of the disease that is besetting the game and I am not referring to money being paid. Players are not coming through from junior ranks. I know that geography and changes in social norms play a part but the AFL continually trumpets the success of Auskick and other 'initiatives' when surely its true measure is the number who go on to play as adults.

For what it's worth I don't think Lee, Williams or Whelan are any chance of heading back to VT this year. Happy to put a slab on it, too, if there are any takers..
