The lancaster girgarre game was one of the best, most exciting kdl games you'll see. fights, comebacks, pack marks, big raking goals and crowd involvement..hats off to the gig boys with the comeback after looking nearly done at three quarter time and a great effort by the lanky boys tried and ran hard all day.

I don't have a problem with the likes of Nagambie or Violet Town, setting up bars, BBQ's & Canteen's, if the Grand Final was held at Murchison (or Ardmona, Merrigum or Girgarre doing the same if the Granny was held at Undera, etc), provided that it's balloted out and that all clubs can put their hands up to do it.

The Picola League have their Grand Final at Katunga and the clubs ballot the rights to run the Bar, & BBQ's on the day & Katunga do their thing at their own buildings, which works really well.

It's fitting that John Dunlop (a man who was always KDFL first & club second, when he was President), was dismayed at this decision, and he's a man who does know how a modern league operates.

I, like everyone else here, loves this game more than the club we affiliate with , and I only objected to having the Grand Final at Mooroopna, because I felt that this was a backward step FOR THE LEAGUE, my membership at Murchison has little bearing to my opinions on this.

The KDFL true Central Location is Murchison, and having a Picola League set up at Murchison, would only be a benefit for our league, having our show piece in an alien environment, would only detract from the event.

BTW, I'm only 26, and I assure you that I am not living in the past, but merely look at things in the cold, hard light of day.

So what happened when they changed the recipe for coke? Is it still the new one or the original? 10 per 100 pplz drink coke so there are approx 64,536,280,000 coke drinkers out there. IM tipping when they changed the recipe pplz still drank it. Coke didnt go bust coz they changed the recipe.
So KY still has a chance with 00.01%. Ace.

Bit off topic but with regards to your analogy, people went bananas in the US when they changed Coke in the 80's. They had to re-release the original coke because they thought they were going to end up in financial strife.;)

But besides all that I reckon Ky would be a better place than Mooroopna, but they may be going that way as it's much closer to Shepparton.

Good point Wayde. 15% out of the KDFL coffers isn't ideal. They'll probably increase the league fees to cover it. I still believe the idea of playing it at a GVFL venue (shepp, mooroopna, tat, ky) is the way to go but you have to make sure to get the numbers right. There's also issues with liquor licences etc as well. you can't just outsource the bar sales to anyone without appropriate licences and i guess there's a public liability issue as well - which club is covered/liable if someone gets food poisoning or drives drunk and runs someone over. There's a lot to consider.

Our goal kicking has been alright this year it was just the game against you boys... Thought Macca was fairly solid down back, was impressed with his runs out of the backline.

Has anyone got any match reports from the weekends games.
Sounds like Gig might shake up the ladder positions this year with a few more upsets from time to time.
What about the Stanhope v undera match?
and the Ardy v Tally?
Were all those four teams at full strength? did anyone suffer any injuries?

I still like the idea of keeping it at a KDL ground. I don't know how it has only been offered to four clubs though each year to my understanding. So far in my year and a half i rate lancaster and murchisons ground the best to play on.
But anyway its at Mooroopna and i'm sure it's going to be a great day regardless.
The Benalla and District League play there Grand Final at the Benalla Showgrounds each year and it always draws a big crowd and a fairly successful day. I'm not sure how they go about dividing up the catering of food and drinks and gate-takings though, maybe our executives could seek advice off the BDFL and the Benalla Football Club.

i agree. My opinion is that it would be a great day regardless of place.
it should be decide on the best possible ground and facilities.

Tally had about 5 out of starting line up. I think Ardy had a few out as well.

Stanhope weren't fantastic, Undera had plenty out but didn't get smashed. Whether Stanhope were just cruising I don't know but from what I saw a team with a bit more polish than Undera who is able to put a bit of heat on through the middle and at halfback will beat Stanhope. Question is is there a team capable of this in the KDL?

once you get to the site go to competitions on the lefthand side Main menu.
to go between leagues go to league/club links which is also on the menu at the bottom. A box will come up, choose at the same level and you can go to any league you want, all the set ups are the same.

Although we'll get a better idea in 5 weeks of where everyone's at, I reckon there's prob only 1 team capable of it, and that's Ardmona.. Think both these teams, at this stage, will play off again. Some have critised Stanhope as choking the last 2 years, I say they've been stiff in that Sidebottom and Trianidis both played one out of the bag in 05, and the lop-sidedness of the umps and an underdone Gray cost them last year.. And at least they can say that they've given themselves a chance to win the big one.. Will be hard to beat again in 07.

Choking is a harsh term. Usually said by players from teams who get nowhere near it! Losing two grannys by less than a kick is hardly choking, just very stiff. One decision, good or bad either way!

Very lucky to have close grannys I reckon, instead of it all being over by 3/4 time like so many of them are!
