Re: Kyabram District FL

what are the chances of mills and stott going to VT, and where is mick shiels from?

stott been training at benalla doubt vt will have the cash to get him n hes still a starter in any gv teams seniors so he would be mad not to keep playing in the league. mills is a chance to go to either vt or longwood.. his brother in law coaches longwood but id say he'd be keen to play a bit better football with the kdl, see how the cookie crumbles who knows he could end up back at euroa

oh and sorry for posting false news about the avenal coaching position a while ago, must have just been a rumour about brooks, i'd say he'd be still doing the fitness though

Re: Kyabram District FL

Heard a whisper that Stanhope forward Rick Sheers is entertaining a move to Nathalia next year.. Gaining a good small forward in Troy Auld, but possibly losing another..

Any word from Stanhope about Wishart and Clymo? Saddling up again?

Wishart very doubtful, Clymo has been linked with Kyabram, but only through Moogie so might have to take that one with a grain of salt!!

I just spoke to my contact from Stanhope Ray Flanagan and he said
Clymo and Sheers are on the list of players to train so far while he said he would think their is a realistic chance that Wishart will remain.

Yes when right is an excellent player, very good Half Forward Flank who leads up the ground well and has strong hands, has played a fair bit at Full Forward and done well, but if stepping up to major league HFF would be perfect. Needs to get his body right as has had a few injuries over the last couple of years.

Re: Kyabram District FL

yeah agree on sheers, he is a good player. seen him take some really good high marks a few years back and looked pretty quick. kicked a lot of goals from full forward if my memory is right, but doesnt look big enough to play there now.
wishart showed some promise at undera, looked like he could play a big game but never fully delivered for a full game, just glimpses. from what ive heard he did the same at stanhope. where would he go if he left, he was playing in shepp before stanhope wasnt he??

Re: Kyabram District FL

How are everyone grounds looking, i know are few clubs will be struggling to have their's ready for round one on the 14/04. i have heard some clubs may play games at other venues, and maybe a revised draw, has anyone else heard this?

There is 2 draws ,one starting on the 14/4 and one 2 weeks later, What we need to know is when will the decision be made to change draws, if we havent had good rain by the 14/4 there is a good chance that we wont of had it by 28/4 either

Re: Kyabram District FL

Speaking to someone about Avenel coach Jace Carton, heard runs like lightning and once won the EDFL grand final sprint in a canter.....and knows how to get the pill.

All qualities the Swans will need as they were a fair way off the top teams last season. Who will be healping Carton on the sidelines? Any chance of Fess doing just a match day role? Gunna need someone with a knowledge of the opposition and his own troops and Thorpey would be ideal I reckon.

How many recruits is he bringing as I heard on the weekend several names were thinking of heading to North Coburg?

Re: Kyabram District FL

Speaking to a guy last night who has and has had ties with both undera and ardmona and he thinks both of these clubs are in a bit of trouble with money. undera rely on a farm or crop or something and being in a drought this has not produced much cash flow. ardmona the same with an orchard or orchards that throw in money. what we both couldnt figure was how it was actually these 2 clubs that have been recruiting, supposedly, and paying a handy dollar. i get the feeling there are some recruits and present players not being told everything.
anyone else heard this, or about any other club that might be struggling?

Could be true, there's always mentions of Ardmona and their league affiliation costs.

Undera are starting the season with a clean slate and have replaced their main money driver of Earthcore, with a Major Sponsor from Shepparton. The way that Undera is able to recruit is that it places an enormous emphasis on being a family club, and a fun place to be rather throwing big money around. I would expect the playing budget will be about 1/2 of the traditional major clubs. This can only be done by good quality players agreeing to play for nothing or for far less than they could get anywhere else.

Also have a good incentive scheme.

Definitely putting a lot of emphasis on junior development and improvement of facilities. Some terrific work being done by the Football and Netball committees and community in general.

Another example of being able to work in this environment is a local stalwart offering to umpire in many u/18 and Reserve games and donate the money back to the club.
