Re: Kyabram District FL

Just thought I'd mention something that may be of interest to a few clubs. James Bodycoat has moved from VT to Nagambie for employment reasons and may be looking for a new footy home after a couple of his mates have decided to trek the path to far North Queensland. I'm led to believe one is the reigning club B&F winner.

Re: Kyabram District FL

See how close you guys can get to naming the vic country footy club spending over 220K this season, after winning last years flag spending just as much and losing the previous year after spending only 2/3's that.

I was under the impression you were getting him and Sean to Broady for a look Beard, now all the KDFL clubs will outbid us on Bodz!!! Bugger home to play from Nagaz, but if he aint happy Im sure there a few clubs willing to step in and cheer him up :)

Has Sean really left or still weighing it up, and will Matty Sharp go too once cricket is finished?

Re: Kyabram District FL

Undera are starting the season with a clean slate and have replaced their main money driver of Earthcore, with a Major Sponsor from Shepparton. The way that Undera is able to recruit is that it places an enormous emphasis on being a family club, and a fun place to be rather throwing big money around. I would expect the playing budget will be about 1/2 of the traditional major clubs. This can only be done by good quality players agreeing to play for nothing or for far less than they could get anywhere else.

Also have a good incentive scheme.

Definitely putting a lot of emphasis on junior development and improvement of facilities. Some terrific work being done by the Football and Netball committees and community in general.

Another example of being able to work in this environment is a local stalwart offering to umpire in many u/18 and Reserve games and donate the money back to the club.

Sounds good Mooroopna Man, although you outbid a major league club for your AC.

Re: Kyabram District FL

All qualities the Swans will need as they were a fair way off the top teams last season. Who will be healping Carton on the sidelines? Any chance of Fess doing just a match day role? Gunna need someone with a knowledge of the opposition and his own troops and Thorpey would be ideal I reckon.

How many recruits is he bringing as I heard on the weekend several names were thinking of heading to North Coburg?

Got any names in regards to NTH Coburg, I find this very interesting as the majority of those that have trained are signed up. But of course that doesn't mean that there might still be a few.

In regards to Fess, of course there is always an open door for him at the club. There is a few blokes already putting their hands up for this, I think he is more interested in having some quality family time, so when he is ready he knows how to get to the ground.:thumbsu:

From what I have seen yes. most of those at training have been filling out the required paperwork. Maybe one or two that still havent but definately the majority.

I haven't been there this week so not sure about any new blokes since last week.

Have gained more than we have lost at this stage.

Ease up Mooroopna Man, you can't believe that telling a player that you are a family club and that he will enjoy himself would be something different to every other club in every league. Hank, I am certain that you also told Godsy that you were a family club with great blokes around it. I have been helping with recruiting for a while now and in my experience the things that a prospective player wants to know are 1. How much? 2. What position? 3. Are we a chance to win the premiership?

Godsy signed on with you without training or attending a function. He did not know that it was a family club. The coin won him over. Nothing wrong with this, but don't paint the club as being ground breaking with their ways of recruiting. Undera got Godsy because of money and then have recruited mates of players within the club. An approach that all smart clubs would use.

Very interesting commentary by yourself and Hank in relation to our recruiting and what we are trying to achieve as a club. I don't think I ever said that we were ground breaking, just that our major emphasis in recruiting is the type of club we are intending to be in the future and hoping that prosepective players will see the benefit of that environment when they make their decision.

In relation to Godsy, I am a firm believer that what a club and an individual agree to is their business. I can categorically state however that the way Godsy has conducted himself and the roles he has taken on such as Auskick Coach, as well as Assistant Coach have made him a fantastic pick up who is winning the respect of everyone at the club very quickly and we did not out bid the other clubs on money. I can also state that we are not throwing around coin, as some other insightful person stated and are working to an achievable and prudent budget for where the club is at the moment.

It is a shame that some of the comments on a great public notice board have a negative slant, when there is so much good work being done at a local level at all clubs.

Hi Groova,

Our first plan of attack is to upgrade the tennis rooms, which the Netballers use to create a great place for kids and mums with safety fencing.

Also looking at creating a safe environment between the netball courts and the main clubrooms.

As I have said before the main emphasis of a football club should be to create an environment where kids, family and community feel safe and welcomed. If you can get that right most of the others things will become much easier.

Definitely many other areas that could be worked on that I would expect us to develop short and long term plans for.

I think I have to back up Groova on this one Mooroopna Man. The away change rooms are in desperate need of improvement and the score board is a disgrace. I would have thought that getting these football facilities up to scratch would be a priority. I also have it on good authority that Undera were extremly short on funds towards the end of last season and were struggling just to pay the bills. I heard they even asked a contract player to take a pay cut AFTER the season when it was time to hand over the cheque. I'd be taking my $$ up front if I was Godsy.

Well there you go! I thought the place was the league showpiece - didn't they play the interleague match there?
