Re: Kyabram District FL

Lancaster train at the Northern Oval in Kyabram for most of the preseason.
The Lancaster ground doesn't have cricket or any other sport played on it in and therefore is fenced off and maintained by a flock of sheep for most of the summer.
I understand it looks pretty RS at the moment, but thats no different to most years at this time. The people in the know tell me that our ground will be A-ok in no time.

Sheep in the summer, sheep dogs in the winter:p :D

Re: Kyabram District FL

With the grounds so dry, sounds as if Lancaster could play play its first 3 home games at the northern oval in Ky where they are doing pre season. Should be interesting as the ground is very small. the facilities are capable of accounting all facets of football, canteen umpires rooms , showers, good size change rooms and excellent netball courts. The ground is looked after by the council and Rusty Mcdonnell :thumbsu: and his crew keep it in pretty good shape for pre season.
They will then reasses the situation at end of may.

I did also hear a whisper something about the money they make from selling there remaining water could see another big name entering the KDL.
I havent been told the player but maybe cosby could help me out here.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Is Peter Dyson the same Peter Dyson who use to play for Kyabram? Son Ricky plays for Essendon? Do you still play in the KDFL Peter or am I confused?

No I think you're confused Galon. Ricky's father's name is Craig.

Is the water you talk of used for their ground? If so, why would they sell any water if they may not be able to play on their home ground?

:D Always have been, always will be.

The story about the water seems a bit extreme Homer.
Surely they would hold onto it and play at Lancaster.
Who is this player that they think they are getting?

Re: Kyabram District FL

speaking to doona this morning and man he was a tad dis-heartened he couldn't sign subba to his beloved roos. Avenel must be cashed up and the thought of playing finals footy must have been tempting!!

Re: Kyabram District FL

When are your practice matches Flamin Homer, wouldn't mind coming out and having a run if my knee permits. May have to drop in Friday for training. Is there a bloke thier by the name of Mick Parella still play down this way. I used to play against him back home.

News to me old Homer, I do know that the Northern Oval is in superb nick for this time of the year though. Wouldn't surprise if we chose to play some practice games there.
I've heard about this player, no name though, apparently he's built like Spartacus.

Ice Pick, Micky Parella(angry little man) played last year for the Wombats, but has hung up the boots.

Oh, and by the way, Peter D and Subtle, it's fun hiding behind alias's isn't it.

Re: Kyabram District FL

any chance of rushworth getting young gun james martin back from ky this year? would be a very handy addition to their side

Jungle James Martin will be a handy inclusion for Rushworth but i doubt he will leave Kyabram. Most of his school mates play for Ky and he looks to have a bright future

Why wouldn't Lancaster look to transfer their games to the main Kyabram oval or to request their first say 4 games to be played away until they get their ground watered. I dropped into Avenal training last week and their ground seems to be holding up ok.

Do you guys really think Avenal can play finals this year? I understand last year they were at least 20 goals off the pace from the top 5 or 6 sides. Apart from the coach who else have they recruited?

Re: Kyabram District FL

todays seymour telegraph had a yea FNC flyer in it, in which it seeks amongst other things, a senior coach. just wondering if any other clubs are yet to sign on a coach?

Re: Kyabram District FL

cosi perella was from WA, been in the area bout 5 years I reckon, Lanky are hoping he is still a chance of playing this season

Icepick, no practice games organised yet, beleive will play in the night comp at Gig. If your keen for a run be at Northern Oval next mon or wed night, but I reckon your full of ********!
Or be at Blue Brick on friday night and ask for Fanta Pants or Drama Room Head, couple of wombat locals.

Who else is playin in Gig night comp? is it a goer?

Re: Kyabram District FL

The first annual 20/20 cricket match was played between the avenel cricket and footy clubs last sunday. Huge turnout. Interestingly the footy club had more players turn up to play in this match than they do to training most years. Around 25 blokes running around kickin the footy before the match including a few new faces and some smooth movers.
For the record the footy club won by 6 runs in a nailbiter with Brooksy being awarded motm having retired with 34 off 8 balls and backing it up with 3/12 off 2 overs.

Couple going down there...........
Avenel to go better than last year........and who knows, dont turn up with your "A" game and you might find yourself in strife against the swannies

I was at the 20/20 game that Albo mentioned and it was great to see some new and enthusiastic faces amongst the throng and I can see the swans improving but they still have a fair bit of ground to make up to have any hope of matching it with the better sides, although I can see them turning the tables on a few of the middle of the road sides from last year. Good signs for the swannies - moving in the right direction at least.

I am a genuine guy Flamin Homo, and yes you will see me Monday night at the Northern oval. All going well (body stays together) I hope to push for a spot in the centre. My skills are not the best and I lack a yard of pace, but I am hard at the ball and don't mind the tough stuff. Something Iv'e been told Lanky lacks  . Anyway I will see you Monday, Im guessing training starts at 6.30.

Re: Kyabram District FL

I see a couple of Wallan veterans are off to Nagambie this season. Paddy Newell returning with David Fowler. My mail had Daffy retired or I woulda spent the 50c on a call . . . . . bugger
