Wheres he off to Old Hopper. ?

Not sure to be honest, the reason behind the move is a bust up with his girl friend.

I dont know about these Murch guys, Tim is about the third one I can remember leaving the club because of women problems.

Re: Kyabram District FL

big rumour glenn hart, the former shep united & west brisbane premiership player is pullin on the boots again for an unnamed kdfl club!

Re: Kyabram District FL

glenn lives in merrigum so my guess is he'll be playing there.

todd durnthaler (spelling?) will be playing for undera this season, played at ky a few seasons ago. ruckmen type player.

Re: Kyabram District FL

The talk of high priced recruits often causes angst among club followers,some say its the only path to success.Thats correct,but too many of these "blow ins" know that theyre only in town for a season or two so they absolutely rape the clubs.Generalising they also;

Dont train in melb
Play ,shower,pay envelope, home.
When they stay overnight, they either muck up or cheat on their teammates missuses as they have no respect for the local culture
Paypacket is generally same size as ego
Have many bad debts towards the end of the season
Bring unruly "drinking buddies" up in the car with them
Big mouth about their wages, causing player unrest amongst club doyens.

These are some negatives,i know the positives, how bout some comment or examples of this type of side effect of the "gun recruit"

i once had this mate of mine who was coaching Lemnos offer me $500 a game, a room in the pub on Friday and Saturday night as i was from melb, and he guarenteed me chop as well. those were his exacts words. i told him i wasn't really that interested in the money but the chop sounded real good.

Re: Kyabram District FL

hey kooly i think the room in the pub, the money and hotel room might have all been intertwined. you needed the 500 to pay for the local bike whilst you stayed in the room. sounds good, can i have the number of your mate as our footy club suddenly has 10 possible recruits.

Re: Kyabram District FL

heard kellets leaving murch aswell anybody else know anything bout this.

Yep McDonald is still coaching but is rapidly losing his hair.

Re: Kyabram District FL

John Trotter or "trots", from wat i remember was at vt a few years back and was with euroa before that, i think he would be a non-playing coach, i think he owns the avenel roadhouse, word on the street is that he has been recruiting heavily already, which would help the vt players as from what i hear the vt boys werent to happy with their previous coach

Why weren't they happy with Der Zippa? Would be fair to assume then that all the players that left in 2004 & 2005 are coming back which sure would make them an improved line up. Got any names for us re: recruits?

At last count the tally for Murch looked like this:
Scott Turner CHF
Darren Turner 1/2 the goals
Shannon Turner FP/Official tool of the team
Chris Turner Wing
Timmy Richter Rover
Gene VanderZalm Ruck
Paul Mahoney Ruck/Rover
Leigh Kellett Other half of goals/and half team weight
Phil Giddens Tall Forward
Michael Clarke Best Thirds player from 2005
Dane Webber Wing/Other tool of team
Boozer ???
Richard Feehan 2005 B&F
Scary thought for the Hoppers as this is just the clearances and rumours from this site. I believe there is a 4 week sentence awaiting Willy Sanders too for their first four games. I think you might be right Bluey about the decision to axe Mahoney in 2004!

Re: Kyabram District FL

yer John Trotter has made enormous changes all round the club from recruiting to financial issues.
'Trotts' has been recruiting heavily, gaining 6 players from melbourne suburbs and another 5 from leagues around the goulburn murray
2 of violet towns more senior players in Bo Harrison and Sean Horsbourgh have had enormous pre-seasons and will have an enormous say in how vt will go this season.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Was out at Ardmona tonight and they had a fair few numbers. Probably 25-30 seniors and 20 thirds. Pretty good feeling with a final training scheduled for Sunday before Monday night's opening night series game.

A fair few seniors still haven't fronted, but this isn't unusual. Dale O'Neill is pretty close to signing and a few other names were mentioned, one being Rob Rodda (?) from Yarraweah. Never heard of him.

Re: Kyabram District FL

The kdl would have to be the most improved lower league going around wouldn't it. sounds like every club except tally and murch are on the improve. undera sound like big improvers, as does girgarre. is there an interleague game? would certainly put together a good side.

Re: Kyabram District FL

What are the reasons for the improvement Sly Dog? Do you think there are more players now playing in a lower standard than there capabilities allow? What I mean by this is, are there potentially GVFL senior footballers playing KDL for coin (and more enjoyment)?

My feelings are that there are three reasons for the improvement:

1) Fringe players from higher leagues want to play senior footy consistently.
2) They are offered a little bit of coin to play in the lower leagues.
3) As they are fringe players at other clubs in higher leagues, they are not treated with the respect thet regular senior players are.

At the end of the day players should play where they want to. The clearances issue has taken over BigFooty issues in recent years.

I accept that clearances keep track of players and understand why clubs usually knock back clearances first up, however I believe players should have the right to play where they want. The only time I feel they should be knocked back a second and third time is if they may owe the club money in some way.

What are your thoughts?
