Re: Kyabram District FL

nah there was no guy laying into a girl, and the people that were stomping were the 17 year olds, but the guy they were stomping spat a mouth full of blood at a mother of one of the kids.

actually a girl was being hit mate...
and the bloke who stomped on the guys head was easily over 20, no matter wat the guy did it doesnt make it rite to kick people in the head when they are already on the ground, and then to stomp on their heads is even worse.
if it was an even fight it would have been ok but not when u have a pack goin after a small group mate

Re: Kyabram District FL

This is a big omission, (but, not one that was entirely unexpected), so the question has to asked, who's going to come up from the two's to fill that gap in the line-up ? (someone like Joe Marsters or even Bigfooty's own Fergz for instance), or does anyone else at Ardy have the height & strength to match James ?, could someone like Dan Reidy match up on Aaron James.

Anyway, for their sake, I hope Ardy had a plan B, because this decision last night could make all the difference come Saturday.

Re: Kyabram District FL

On a different topic I see Murch are now in the hunt for a coach. Brett Hughes was going to do it again but is now moving up to Darwin.

That's correct, the committee re-appointed Brett for another season (with what he had, he did do a good job, and he can be proud of what he did this season), but he's had this big job offer up in WA (Broome) that was far too good to refuse, so he's leaving the area, and taking up a position up there.

Brett leaves with no animosity, and as a club, we know he's got a young family and he wants to set himself up for the future, so we totally understand his situation, and we wish him all the best in the future.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Now, here are my tips for the Grand Final (Sadly, I can't make it, but I'll gaze into the crystal ball anyway)

SENIORS STANHOPE vs. Ardmona by 10 Points

I know that a few of you here think that this is going to be a walk in the park for Stanhope, and even with the likes of James, Hoota & Mason, Ardmona always seem to find something within themselves in the big games (You can fault them for many things, but this is one thing that you have to give Ardmona credit for).

And even with Freeman out of the line-up (can they appeal before Saturday ?), Ardmona still should stay within striking distance of Stanhope, but with their team, Aaron James and the burning desire to not fall three years in a row, should see Stanhope do enough to hold off Ardy in what I think should be a close game all day.

I predict that Aaron James will kick 10 goals to Perry Meka's 6, in what should be an entertaining duel.

RESERVES Stanhope vs. LANCASTER by 6 points

I know that Stanhope have been the form side all year, and most people are predicting that they should win here, but I feel that after last week's game against Ardmona, and the number of senior players in their team, Lancaster should win in what should be another close game.

UNDER 18'S STANHOPE vs. Violet Town by 17 points

This should be another close game between a form side (Stanhope), and one with all the momentum (Violet Town), but after seeing both sides play, and looking at how they match up, I think that Stanhope should be nice and rested and have all the aces against the Towners, in what I predict will be a high scoring game.

And there it is, my half baked predictions for the Grand Final:D.

BTW, has anyone else here read in article in today's Shepp News about Bigfooty ?, I can't find a link to the article, but it's on Page 28 and it's a 3/4 page spread with various quotes, and interview with "Fred" our moderator and a write up from Teo Pellizzeri.

It's a pretty good write up I must say, and I think that's it's a good representation of what goes on here.

Big views on a big game

Shepparton News

They don't have swords or shields, ride valiant steeds or sail the seven seas.
But it does not mean they are not warriors, the keyboard warriors of Bigfooty.com
An Australian Rules discussion website for all levels of the game, Bigfooty has a vast array of opinions about the national game.
Having started in 2002, Bigfooty is no secret to the football population of the Goulburn Valley; this year's Goulburn Valley league thread has more than 10 500 posts and 520 000 views, while the Kyabram league thread is at 5500 posts and more than 240 000 views.
But popularity does not guarantee quality; whether it's the Goulburn Valley, suburban or even AFL.
Bigfooty is a world where Carlton and Essendon are equal second on the all-time AFL premiership list, their 16 VFL/AFL premierships a meagre tally in comparison to Port Adelaide's muscular 35 SANFL/AFL flags.
Power fans on Bigfooty will proudly boast "35 flags - we exist to win premierships" prompting West Coast fan "Son of Reep" to attribute all WAFL flags before 1987 to the Eagles and reply with; "West Coast Eagles, 113 AFL/WAFL flags - we exist to make spurious claims about premierships."
It sounds stupid doesn't it, but it's the sort of argument that flies on Bigfooty and quite simply, is rarely resolved as new waves of users register and reignite old debates.
Bigfooty's credibility as a news source is also suspect at best given users generally have free rein to rumourmonger and speculate as much as they like, provided it doesn't overstep any existing court injunctions.
But there can be no doubt that the luminaries of the AFL print and digital media read Bigfooty and pick and choose ideas presented on the boards to end up in stories of their own.
On July 30 user "The Royal Sampler" started a new thread presenting an idea to eliminate tanking from the AFL; by August 7 the Herald Sun's Mark Stevens had regurgitated the same theory - but maybe great minds think alike . . . or Stevens posts as "The Royal Sampler".
While previously regarded as the home of competitive urinary pursuits, this year has shown that Bigfooty's credibility as a source of AFL scoops and ideas is becoming more recognised.
However, in district footy the respect for a Bigfooty scoop has always been there, provided you know enough player nicknames to identify who is being talked about.
Earlier this year the Goulburn Valley Fotoball League requested certain posts on Bigfooty of an offensive and personal nature be removed by administrators - the request was obliged, but it doesn't mean banter has been totally cut out of the discussion.
"I don't know why supporters use Bigfooty, I just think it shows their passion for Goulburn Valley football," league general manager Eric Bott said.
"I don't have an account, I never will," he said.

David Williams is somebody in the GV, Rob Harris wants to be.

Keeping things under control
Teo Pellizzeri puts the hard questions to bigfooty.com administrator "Fred" over the Internet.
TP: Why might people be willing to share the information they do under private aliases on the Internet when they'd keep it hush-hush in person?
Fred: Probably because if they get it wrong using an Internet alias there's no real embarrassment whereas if you're talking to friends they'll remember.
The Internet is an impersonal way of communicating with others and many people are quite different on the net compared to real life.

TP: What sort of control does Bigfooty have when it gets personal, especially in a district footy thread?
Fred: Even at a district level it's hard for the moderators to know the truth of what's said.
Apart from what the moderators see, we rely on other posters pointing out things that are untrue or could be hurtful to a person or club. Posters that make a habit of breaking the rules are suspended or banned.
TP: Why do you think Bigfooty is proving such a popular means of communication for Goulburn Valley league fans compared to some of the other leagues?
Fred: The GVFL is a major league that has a large following and naturally attracts many posters.
Bigfooty, being the largest forum for AFL with a strong regional footy focus, attracts the most numbers.
TP: What in your opinion is the biggest AFL story ever to have been broken/leaked on Bigfooty?
Fred: The biggest story to have broken on Bigfooty was a few years ago when we had the All-Australian team posted a week before it was announced. It certainly attracted the attention of the AFL.
TP: Does it annoy you to see columnists/journalists take material that has been posted off Bigfooty without attribution? Fred: It's a compliment really. There are some mainstream footy journalists that are registered members, while others are just readers. There have been cases where deliberate `red herrings' have been posted and it's made the papers.

Not really relevant IMO, with the GVFL plus KDFL finals this weekend space coulda been put to better use. Reading the GVFL thread last week after Rob Harris' article on Dave Williams I think thats what spurred on todays article.

I might be wrong here Wayde, but this reads to me as though Stanhope have been in form over their last few games and have had the preliminary final off.
Last round of the home 'n' away Ardy beat them by 10 goals and then they had a week off and VT beat them by 2 goals and they had to go through the prelim..
VT beat Stanhope during the season by 30 points and in week 2 of the finals and are well rested for this saturday. And in the first week of the finals they pumped Ardy by 10 goals and should carry this form and fitness into the match.

they may not have to worry about Big Aaron James, just sic the Ardy 3rds onto him before the game they should enjoy that.

Im confused by all this gents. If a player had a suspended sentence as Red Bull suggested then re-visits the tribunal within an allocated time frame then it's an automatic suspension am I right.

Maybe the suspended sentence had expired for the player to get off. It's always great to see the best available pitted against the best availale this time of year - Stanhope should still win IMO.

Only if the player is found guilty is the suspension enforced.

Re: Kyabram District FL

if there is anyone in the kdl who could go close to holding James its Freeman
Freeman is the most overrated player in the comp. The game will be won in the midfield, both teams can kick a good score, the supply will decide the fate.
