For such pressure kicks I can't actually recall too many times where the kick to win has been missed. Names like Brownless, Hall, Tarrant, Riccardi, Dixon and now Lonmuir spring to mind for the win but I can't think of many cases where the person in their situation has missed.

Kernahan's out on the full is the only one that I can think of.

Lloyd v the Dogs in 2002. Matty Egan last week.

Oh yeah forgot about that one. Who would've thought Tarrant would be the one to succeed under pressure of the two. Lloyd is a ten times better kick than Tarrant. Funny game footy.

One famous kick to "lose" a game I can remember from the 70's was a North V. Hawthorn, when Blight kicked a point on the siren to equal the scores. As he was pushed as he kicked, the umpire gave him the option of another kick.

If I remember it was only about 30 meters out from goal but it was a very wet day and Blighty duly kicked it on the full, leaving the Hawks one point winners.

Blighty was a great player but he was also responsible for some monumental stuff ups. I remember him running into the open goal, running straight past the goal and booting it through for a behind. He obviously forgot where he was :)

Kicks to win that didn't - Geelong v Melbourne last week - forgot his name...

As for kicks to win that came off - don't forget Plugger's goal in 1996 against Essendon.

Barry Hall this year Swans v Lions but scores were tied when he took the kick - couldn't lose.

(I think) He also won a game agaisnt Hawthorn with a goal after the siren with his last ever kick for St Kilda in 2001.

Always remember the Blight one v Hawthorn 1977.
Think Mike Williamson said something along the lines of
"He'd be a deadhead if he misses"
and he missed

Arden Street 1977:
Blight gets a push in the pack whilst shooting for goal, it misses to tie the scores at 6.12.48 apeice.
Blight receives the free and the siren goes, with the North 1-point down.

Commentator: "It'll be a dead heat if he misses" (IE: kicks a point) - nobody expected Blight to put it out on the full from 25m out despite how dreadful the conditions were that day.
And as history tells us........He missed the lot.

The commentator wasn't Mike Williamson, he'd already retired. It was either Lou Richards or Jack Edwards.
