Bailey Rice I see as being on the edge of the first round. He is terrific. He'd require Carlton's second round pick to get.

Silvagni probably undrafted, but with slight late/rookie draft chances if he improves strongly over the course of the season. Likely he can be had as a rookie if you want him.

I'll be watching with interest.

Do you think Jake Bradley will be drafted?

Can't see Bradley getting a shot this year, no.

Last one for tonight
as the draft gets nearer I see Bailey Rice massive talking point. Who do you think as a non Blues and Saints supporter, will Rice decide to nominate?
Might have been easier decision for Joe Daniher to make between Essendon & Sydney but not as easy when both teams being Vic based

Any number of teams may consider Rice. Collingwood, Richmond, Western Bulldogs could be the first few to consider Rice. Then late first round Hawthorn would probably like to have him. Gold Coast second round with their team that has struggled by foot may take a look.

If I had to guess who picks Rice and where today. Hawthorn late first round feels about right. But his stocks are only rising, so a team with a higher draft position could well place a bid.

For Rice it will be a curious and difficult decision to make. Both Carlton and St Kilda are bottom end teams that probably stay down for a while with still slowly building young talent, but then also lots of back flankers and options that play similar positions. So from that perspective it's tricky. But as a Carlton fan from what I've heard, with that being where his heart likely is, I could see him joining Carlton probably in the second round would be my prediction today.

Bailey Rice has been training with St Kilda one day a week and has had regular meetings with the St Kilda recruiters going through his tapes to work on his game. I'm reliably informed he will nominate St Kilda as a FS.

Nick Dodge kicked 5 goals and Sushames BoG for Tasmania. Anyone at the game have any more info?

Think Dodge is averaging over 20 possessions and 4 goals a game in the TAC cup :thumbsu:

Dodge in his 3 TAC Cup games has been terrific with 4, 4 and 5 goals. So he is performing.

I'm yet to see him (or Tasmania) play this season. But I look forward to seeing him play, after a few brief glimpses of him last season and obviously his numbers this year really catching my eye.

If he keeps performing like that. He'll like Sushames get drafted no problem I can only imagine.

According to Emma Quayle he has spent a few Tuesdays at St Kilda headquarters, going through tapes of his games with the recruiting team and coaches, while he recently attended a president's function at Carlton & went into the club's rooms before the game that day to watch the players warm up. The kid states he hasn't made a decision yet, so who knows.

some talk of Wiley Buzza from QLD being a chance. massive boy and only been playing aussie rules for 2 years max.
Has got a NEAFL rising star nom and been playing well all year as a forward for state and local club.
have any draft experts seen him?

Yet to see him play. But had 5 goals in the TAC Cup yesterday. And had 2 goals in a game earlier in the season.

I look forward to watching him play at some point over the coming weeks.

Knightmare if Carlton do finish bottom two, who do you think we'd get - a KPP or a Mid? Is this year's draft a clear cut Top 3?

Cheers! :)

Gold Coast I'm assuming given all their injuries finish last and as a result they almost certainly take Weitering who is the best in the draft, unless something major happens between now and the end of the season.

I assume Carlton finish with pick two. With pick two I'd anticipate Carlton bid on Callum Mills (Sydney Academy), Sydney would then go on to match the bid. Then likely midfielder Darcy Parish would be Carlton's pick as the guy generally seen as that next best talent.

Early draft after pick one it's most likely going to be midfielders with the next best talls to come into consideration from somewhere around pick 10 and beyond.

if the ladder stayed the same untill round 23, which clubs would you guess would bid on the top end academy and father sons?

I've seen that both Balic and Partington have found a lot of the ball in the first two state games, where do you see them going in the draft? And do you think bombers would be looking hard at them?

As a rough guess with those projecting as first round picks.

Gold Coast with pick 2 would bid on Callum Mills.

Brisbane at 3 would bid on Matthew Kennedy.

Melbourne at 5 would bid on Caleb Hopper.

Port Adelaide at 7 would bid on Josh Dunkley.

Western Bulldogs at 10 would bid on Bailey Rice.

Adelaide at 12 would bid on Ben Keays.

Then you'd have others such as Hipwood have second round picks bid on them and so on.

-- It just shows the fairly extreme strength of those academy and father son selections in this draft.

Balic has been productive through the u18 champs, but less productive through the TAC Cup which I'm trying to get my head around. But more midfield minutes can help.

Balic and Partington likely fit somewhere in the 3-15 range and probably land somewhere in the middle of that range.

Either could be a fit for Essendon and I'd imagine would be on Essendon's shortlist at this point due to being appropriate list fits and due to their projected draft ranges.

Knightmare.

Without looking at who Essendon need to draft, how many picks do you think they will take into the draft and how many will they use?

With limited depth in this draft I expect most clubs to take 3-4 players. Essendon likely fit into that category.

According to an article that I read, Kieran Malone (Northern Knights) kicked 4 goals and had 52 disposals yesterday. I know most of the better players are playing champs this week but still getting that much footy is ridiculous .

Staggering performance.

A bit like Reece McKenzie with his 10 goals last year in one game in the TAC Cup. It is one of those performances that just makes you pause and take note.

At this point with Malone it's a completely out of the box performance. And he surely isn't going to provide that extreme level of output again. But none the less, my hope would be he gains confidence from that and understands that he can have more big games at this level.

I look forward to Malone having more big games, more often.

Why do you think Brisbane would bid on a Midfielder? And not a key forward

Best available basis. If Brisbane had pick 3 on draft day. I'm not liking the key forward options there.

Schache is someone more appropriate for selecting around pick 10.

Weideman despite what the media are suggesting is more a second rounder.

Others probably go outside the top 10.

Who are Saints interested in?

Best avail but swaying towards mids with pace. I think we would love Parish but he will most likely be gone by our selection if we retain our current ladder position. Tucker probably a more realistic target. I also wouldn't be surprised if we bid on Hopper.
