"Learn about the club"?

Warren Tredrea needs to "learn about the club"!?

"Learn about the club"!?!?

David Koch told Warren Tredrea to "learn about the club"...
Yeah that is just beyond the ****ing pale isn't it. To suggest that he needs to undergo some sort of crash course in what has happened to the club in the last decade when as a journalist he has consistently been involved with the goin-ons at the club is a joke.

At any rate, prior to that, Tredrea as much as any single person WAS Port Power. If you make an exception for anyone being appointed to the board it would be him and you would hail it as a positive for the club. It is clear that Koch views Tredrea as a threat and a dissenting view that will speak his mind.

Can't read the article and don't know where they rank him, but how much would Ego Boy Koch love being in this group in this headline article in the Herald Sun. FFS.

Oh if anyone can read the article I'd like to know where the place Dictator Dan. If he's not number 1, and by a fair gap, the journalist has no idea what he's talking about.

supporting David Koch's Port Adelaide is supporting the death of Port Adelaide
They are more interested in being a 'financially stable franchise' than ruthless in the aim of winning flags.

I understand they see securing the future as extremely important, I really do. Make us financially stable and do what we 'want' in the future. This is so fraught due to the changing nature of the rules and sport in general that it borders on neglect.

Sport isn't really like that, it's about taking your opportunities for glory when they come, and we have spunked a few up the wall with shit resourcing and maintaining status quos for stability.

You could even reluctantly accept the logic, even if you disagreed with it (that we almost all do), if it wasn't for the fact that on field success (or even the perception of success is possible) leads to more members and sponsors, which increases the bottom line and provides stability. By not prioritising success they are making the odds of long term stability less.

Supporters and sponsors don't believe success is likely under the current regime, by 'seeking stability', from the 2017 extension we've conservatively had 25k less Members in total (not per year - 5k x 5 years) than we would have had with another coach. At, an again conservative, $100 per Member, that's $2.5 million from Memberships alone. With flow on from less merchandise and sponsors money (more members is more and higher paying sponsors) and at a minimum the clubs 'stability' has cost us at least $3 million. The more likely figure I'd put at $5 million. That's the club's debt mostly paid off.

This is why Koch is such a dickhead. A football club isn't a normal business, trying to run it as such is detrimental to the stability he so values.

It's the 'austerity' philosophy of shitty governments.

You know I was actually contemplating coming back this year for a membership but this news has deterred me greatly. I’m almost at the point where I’m starting to see nothing special about this club anymore, like it’s just become one big ‘meh’.

Even our new guernseys look horrible, Why are they baggy? Did we go back to the 90’s all of the sudden? (wish we did tbh lol) They look cheap and nasty, Might as well buy a Kmart Port guernsey because there doesn’t seem to be much difference anymore. Also the bagginess is going to make it easy for the opposition to tackle us. Macron is a horrible kit maker

Macron has been rubbish, but the photos everyone is freaking out about are players wearing retail guernseys. The PI guernseys will not be that baggy.

It was actually a bigger ****-up when Macron released a bunch of retail guernseys (the coral training guernsey from 2021, for instance) in PI proportions.

Come on mate . It’s not that bad . I love the club like I love my family which results in me giving them some wriggle room without ostracising them if they make a few slip ups .
There are some good points .
We do have a competitive team , probably best if we had a new coach this year but will probably be next plus if things go our way we can still be a chance This year .
Yes Koch is a knob but at least the finances are on track . Like it or not that is important . How about Jeff Kennett or Eddie McGuire , they all get hounded out if they’re on the nose
We’re pretty much level with the Crows now whereas we were the poor relation when we first came in .
We’ve still done better than Gold Coast , Freo and GWS who were either side of us coming in .
Our list management has been good and we’re on track to have a good team for a while to come .
As much as community programs and political correctness seem banal they do help in attracting sponsorship and hipster types that mightn’t follow anyone normally .
It’s different now , I don’t know if we’d ever get back to a full meat and potatoes football club but not many of the others will either .
Another thing new is the amount of vitriol spewing toward the club from its own people via social media .
My first year as a Port barracker was 1966 , we then went on a prem drought until 1977 , we just kept working until we got back where we belonged .
