Good call Groucho, but if Kouta does go to another club wouldnt his contract be halved because he is now a Veteran therefore his price tag would be 300-400k, which is reasonable

I believe you have to be over a certain age and have ten years service at the one club to be eligible for the veterans list

To those who have had words with me, is this an example of one of those threads i should be deleting on sight?

I'll ask the predicatable question: source?

Seems like a load of rubbish to me. Why would Pagan, a bloke who values his leadership group more than any other coach i have known of and who is coach in charge of a club with so few experienced quality players and leaders, trade one of his most valuable in these regards?

And who the hell is going to take him on?

Bollox.

I had a good laugh that the AFL's leading contested possession winner would have no value at any other Club.

Some of you guys must be on drugs, the kind that make you even more stupid.

Let's clarify the facts:

1. You have to be at a Club for 10 years, and be at least 30 by Dec 31 2003, before you can go on that Club's veterans list for 2004.

2. The salary component a CLub pays goes onto the TPP of the Club paying the money.

3. Kouta's salary component can be halved in terms of TPP for the Blues, by going onto the veteran's list, but for no other CLub.

4. It would be fair to estimate that no other Club would be prepared to pay Kouta's full contract.

5. It is highly unlikely Kouta would leave the Club.

6. There is a segment of Blues supporters who are very angry with him due to his huge contract, the fact that Allison has again spoken to the media, and the suggestion that he may not be happy under Pagan.

7. Every coach would love to have Kouta in his team at the right price.

Now, you guys can get back to the fiction.

Agreed....in one of my earlier posts I gave out the reason why Carlton may hold a TV conference and its not to announce Kouta's trade but to discuss the new contract agreement that they have reached. For more details refer to an earlier post on this thread...Cheers

would attract a bit, similar to carey in that clubs would be willing to take a big risk with the high standards he can play at. But if he left, there would be some major fury in the members wouldn't there?

Sure, but the right price is going to be lower than what Carlton would/should pay, especially with the salary cap.

30+ year old stars add little value long term and are most sort after by Clubs on the verge of a premiership. Adelaide is about the only club stupid enough to spend big on signing Kouta. Sydney would have done it under Eade, and Freo of old would have leapt at it to be competitive, but none of the following clubs are likely to be interested in much more that 300K for 1 year:

Snowballs chance in Hell:
Bears
Dogs
Freo
Port
Weagles
Saints

Unlikely:
Swans
Cats
Roos
Melbourne
Hawks

Just might be stupid or brave enough:
Tigers (stupid - list needs rebuilding)
Dons (brave)
Pies (brave)
Crows (very brave or pretty stupid - would need a top 2-4 finish to justify this)

Just heard from a reliable source that Anthony Koutoufides will not play for Carlton next year as Kouta and the Carlton football club could not reach an agreement over koutas payments.

What is your source this sounds very unreliable as if the Carlton Football Club would trade him he is a blue at heart.

I know a certain individual that is a midfield fitness instructor for the Carlton F.C, and he says that the GREAT 'KOOOUTA' has already amde his decision and would like to play at Collingwood.

You mean to tell me that Carlton have a fitness instructor just for their midfielders? Does that mean a seperate one for their forwards, one for their defense and one for their bench as well?

Garbage. Peter Malkearns is your fitness advisor. He was a teacher of mine at school (along with Dave Butterfant at Collingwood) and worked at North in the same role that he now serves at Carlton.

The BS meter has soun off the chart. Thread locked.
