Post this on the Adelaide board, the ban will be worth it.
cmndstab made those rules, perhaps he can inform us if my offer was ok?

We are entering the 2012 trade period and Kurt Tippett is up for trade. There are obvious tensions regarding the trade. Please ensure you stick by the following rules:

For Opposition Supporters: Be respectful. Don't come in here and tell us Tippett is a spud. Definitely don't come in here with that well-worn line "YOU'LL HAVE TO DEAL WITH US AND TAKE WHATEVER WE OFFER, OR LOSE HIM FOR NOTHING IN THE PSD!" Finally, if you're going to make a trade offer, be realistic. Offering a fringe player and an average draft pick is not realistic, it's disrespectful. The Adelaide mods have the final say on what is realistic and what is not, so if you're not sure, either ask us first or don't bother to post it.

I still think my trade offer was the best. We'll give you guys Tippett and Stephen Trigg for pick 23 and Jesse White, who assumes the now-vacant role as Adelaide CEO.

It's a deal as long as we keep his missus as part of the agreement, (You didn't specify what role we have to give Trigg either ;))

They are paid a fixed salary for a 12 month period and if a player is suspended they are paid for other purposes such as attending training and school visits. Not playing is not a reason, not to pay a player.

The only thing I'd add is that some players are on a base payment with a further match payment component in their contract. Obviously the latter isn't applicable if they are suspended, but as you say they are still due their base payment even if suspended.

Just for clarification the base payments are made in 12 equal monthly instalments (Nov 30 to Oct 31) and the match payments by at least the 15th of each month.

One of the lions supporters over on there board reakons the lions and are trying to get a deal done with kurt because they think GWS will pass and that the loins have a pick before the swans just working out the money side of things and its from a very reliable source he says. interesting if kurt desides to go back to queensland

You mean the contract extension SM?

If so we obviously knew he would be suspended so why offer a contract extension under those conditions? or was the contract extension related to concussion issues?

I mean the appearances fees that he was reportedly set to receive if he played over a certain amount of games for us.

How hard is it to understand that Tippett has one destination he wants to get to and is hellbent on getting there. That destination is Sydney Swans Football Club. Tippett made a decision many months ago from the moment negotiations began that he wanted to play at the Swans and i am led to believe after witnessing the GF it only strengthened that desire even further. This does not come from a reliable source  This is the Gospel according to Saint *******. So unless Tippett has done a 360 in the last 24 hrs he has no interest playing in Queensland. He will be a Swan if Sheedy's usual " look at me " Shit rings true.

Very true, but he has to agree to a trade or be stuck at GWS, if they pick him up. You would assume if he nominated a club and they wanted him and would give GWS a decent pick then it is all just money for an extra good pick.

It wouldn't be a move without risk, but it could pay off. It is probably more realistic that Sheedy is pushing the envelope to force the Swans to commit a truck load of cash to get Tippett and a gambit is only successful if people believe you have the intention to go through with it.

It would be a massive gamble to draft him on hope of being able to trade him for a good pick, If he hits his head or does ACL or Swans spend there cap space on another player and no other teams wants to pay his contract could cost GWS couple of very good players seeking more money elsewhere. I think if GWS draft him it be to try and improve there side and try get more success sooner to help convince more of there kids to stay on and not leave.

Fair enough mate i guess we will no more on monday when he puts his terms in do u no if they are made public

I sort of hope Sheedy isn't buffling and GWS do take him...I'd like to have him in one way but the cost is too much, yeah we're getting Tippett and he comes in fills a weakness and helps take pressure off Reid, but we're paying the price a Franklin. You have too pay overs to get the good players in but this is too much.

The potential loss for getting him (specially if he goes missing, like he can do, or gets another concussion) is far greater then the potential gain for having him. If we do get him he'd wanna return to his 09 form and play at that level consistantly, or it's been a waste of time imo.
Rather hold onto the money and have a crack at players with less ??'s about them and who we know are worth the coin.

Yep, I agree. But, GWS have mostly kids and they have to give the money to someone. I think a long term contract would scare them more than a lot of money over the short-term. It will be interesting if Swans and Tippett camp can find that sweet spot that will make it happen.

I think they will, and Tippett will make it to the Swans. Most clubs talk big during the trade week but not a lot act. Essendon similarly claimed they would take Jacobs ahead of us, they didn't in the end.

Barry Hall before he got to the Swans ring any bells ? Tippett has some serious talent for a bloke of his size. It is an over inflated price to pay for him but if turns out to have the influence Hall did as a key forward then it will be worth it. This club has not made many bad decisions in the last 10 years and have reaped some handy rewards for the way in which they go about their business, so have some faith because if Tippett gets to Sydney i will back him and the club to turn this whole sorry saga into Gold for our club.

Baz didn't come with quite the price tag Tippett does. For me Tippett has a much more Daniel Bradshaw (swans version) feel to it then a Barry Hall one.

As I said I don't mind Tippett in the team, but not at the cost and the potential implications that it could have down the road. No doubting Tippett has some talent and could play a good role within the team, but I think for that price tag you would want a Buddy output.
I'm sure the club knows what they're doing and it could well prove to be a masterstroke, but on face value, the risk isn't worth the reward in this case imo.

Sure not the price tag but we coughed up 3 draft picks for Hall, Saints used 13 on Dal Santo.

Tippett wage is not that much higher than what Adelaide would of paid him to stay ~800k P.A.

With the salary cap increase the cost will be absorbed its well worth the gamble on a 25year old who still hasnt hit his peak for nothing :)

I agree, I think the cap increasing is one of the reasons why we are chasing him so hard. It's probably the equivalent of paying him 600 a year. Plus jude will retire at the end of this year and goodsey in 5 years .. I have 100 per cent trust in this club when it comes to recruiting
