The club must know something about him that no one else does. It's hard to see why someone who struggles to get a game at Melbourne would be a good pick up. Be interesting to see what they are going to do with him.

Not a bad pickup given that we got him for absolutely nothing. I see him at half back mostly. Knows how to accumulate. Uses it well.

Promising defender who made his AFL debut in the opening round of 2009 and played 12 games. Importantly, he played the last six games and was given a contract extension, indicating he is part of Melbourne’s future. Was handed tough assignments but is a tenacious youngster and will continue to improve.
Draft history: 2007 NAB AFL Draft 4th round selection (Melbourne) No. 53 overall.

Clarko clearly wanted Kyle because he reminds him of himself as a young fella (still taller though). Good angry ant though is Cheney, gave up next to nothing for him. Nothing to get excited about but could add some steel where required.

Not a bad pick for the price. Cheney is a Hawthorn type player, hard at it Ranga. The fact he was playing for Casey is irrelevant, he only debuted last year like Sheils, who played Box Hill amost all year. Hopefully he develops into a solid player for us. Like the fact he's from Ballarat too.
