For starters it's not about value it's about leverage.
Melbourne have it because he's contracted until 2027 and even if he goes then as an RFA the compo pick will be equal or better to than a mid r1.
So if they traded him for a mid first now their supporters would riot and it's no chance of happening.
They will want 2 good first rounders minimum for him or he won't be traded.

If you're asking me his actual value without the contract (which is a different issue) I think he's worth a top 10 pick plus a 2nd rounder somewhere but as I said Melbourne wouldn't do it for that.

If Fremantle end up with pick #14 that blows out to #20 range

I don't think the Dockers have the assets for Pickett.

As you said that 2025 and 2026 first round draft picks will be late. More like traditional early second round picks.

This is a good point. As he signed on until 2027 Melbourne unless Freo stump up. The other scenario is Freo somehow falls over and you get a top 10 pick next year then it’ll be a possibility. But I sent expect that to happen.
I’d hope we don’t take two picks 15-20s.

Trying not get my hopes up (in Jan haha) but man, the idea of watching Pickett and Bolton at the feet of Treacy Amiss after the forwardlines we've had for 30 years is just too exciting.

Unfortunately (for Freo), I reckon, if not quite scorched earth, he'll need to be pretty damn strong on forcing his way out to even make Melbourne think about it given their history. We could get an official trade request in October and I'd still need to see a trade go through before believing it's happening.
