Sure.

Name these less qualified and less capable people, and the more qualified and more capable people who were blocked from a job, the job positions involved, and the dates they started work.

Or just any sort of study that shows that the California firefighting services have suffered due to any sort of diversity policy. Include any studies showing benefits of such policies.

Thank you.

I can't provide a study about how diversity has affected the California firefighting services, I'm just providing an example from Adam Carolla who has lived his whole life in LA and has some personal experience with it and he certainly isn't a bullshit artist.

In this instance I don't think the firefighters were the problem, they are all doing their best, it is problems with the forest management, lack of water supply and cuts to the funding of the firefighting department and the California Governor Gavin Newsom and the LA Mayor Karen Bess are to blame for that.

Obviously the weather and climate played a big part in it but questions need to be asked about their preparation for this event.

It doesn't sound like they were as well prepared as they should have been and there has been incompetence from the people in charge of that, I think the people that have had their homes and neighbourhoods destroyed have a right to be angry about it.

Somehow I think I can skip Adam Carolla and Megyn "Trump is good now and no I'm not a little bitch for campaigning for him after he slagged me off in front of everyone" Kelly talking to each other

Maybe you should listen to it, I don't think they are as bad or biased as some of the mainstream media in the US that have been cheerleading for the Democrats side despite the fact that they have been incompetent both nationally and in California.

Here is another recent interview with Mel Gibson, another resident of Malibu who just lost his house, he mostly bites his tongue but his contempt for Gavin Newsom as well as the LA Mayor is pretty obvious.

And any questions that point to righties blocking funding are waved away.

They go to California because other parts in America try and get rid of them.

In California they are allowed to be.
Same thing happens in Sydney.
25K people in Sydney homeless according to the 2021 Census.
There's nothing for them in rural NSW so they come to Sydney.
California is no different, why would it be?

Mmmm have to agree to disagree there.

I disagree to agree but point taken.

Mel also believes Ivermectin is a cancer cure.

Mel was also Mad Max and he directed Apocalypto so if anyone knows how to deal with an apocalyptic situation like this it's him.

And any questions that point to righties blocking funding are waved away.

That is a problem with American politics, the righties block the lefties when they are in power and then the lefties do the same.

South Park summed up US elections and elections in other democratic countries including Australia, pick the least worst option.

Drove through the palisades early November and it was extremely dry and plenty of fuel just begging to be lit up around half mile towards the hills north of Malibu.
Drive Malibu to Santa Monica and hundreds of beach houses lining the ocean with the best views imaginable, and now all gone as well.
So sad .
Driving through waterfall gully road in SA And its the same. Every house, including surrounding suburbs will burn.

I drove to Aldinga today and the amount of dry litter around is begging for disaster.

We humans are so dumb.

The rise of the internet and social media has a lot to blame for all this right and left nonsense.

One of my favourite US Presidents was Bill Clinton, he was the US President when I was there in the late 90s.

No one back then talked about this right and left nonsense, Bill Clinton was still popular despite the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

He would have got a third term as President if he ran against George W Bush instead of Al Gore in 2000, ain't no doubt about it.

It didn't help Hillary win the election in 2016 but even Bill's popularity and charisma couldn't get her over the line against Trump.

It is looking like arsonists could be to be blame for starting the fires.

I think it was the same with the 2009 Black Saturday fires in Victoria.

It's hard to stop them but if they get caught they should get life in jail.

The multiple arsinists could be opportunistic but also very interesting.

Could be political destabilizarion, among other scenarios.
Almost certainly just lone actors who really need to be treated for their mental health problems.

In the US? Or here?

Both but Australians weren't as consumed about US politics back in the 80s and 90s as they are now.

We care more about US elections than our own these days, no one here cared about the Reagan vs Walter Mondale 1984 election.

We didn't have the internet back then, the only thing I knew about America back then as a kid was reading the MAD magazines.

The US has always had a "liberals vs conservatives" thing going on.

It has become more pronounced and vicious in the last decade pr more, but it's always been a bigger thing than here.

It's certainly become more divisive there and it wasn't like that when I was living there in the late 90s, everyone liked Clinton.

He was from Arkansas so he appealed to the old Southern Republicans as well as the more progressive Northern Democrats.

The most divisive guy then was Howard Stern and he wasn't taking about politics, he talked about strippers in his radio studio.

They were simpler times.

Not sure how long it takes here, but was staggered to read that it can take 7 years to get approvals to conduct controlled burns in the US.

A recent analysis by my colleagues at the Property and Environment Research Center underscores just how cumbersome NEPA-related delays can be for the projects most needed to reduce fire risks. On average, it takes 3.6 years to begin a mechanical thinning project and 4.7 years to implement a prescribed burn after the U.S. Forest Service initiates the environmental review process. For large projects requiring environmental impact statements, the timeline stretches even longer, averaging 5.3 years for mechanical treatments and 7.2 years for prescribed burns.

Yes we did, Trump's just dumbed politics down to the point that even his supporters can understand it.

Omg. The cookers on SM are going into meltdown over energy weapons.

Not sure though if they're real or just trolls

There's some crazy conspiracies doing the rounds:
  • started as a distraction before January 20
  • started as a targeted burn of Diddy's house to destroy evidence
  • California isn't allowing fire trucks from other states to assist unless they meet certain environmental markers; this was being doubled down on even though the fire houses coming to assist had shared info when they arrived in LA & the roles they'd play a good 12hrs before the lies were being spread. But people were paying more attention to the lies, believing & sharing that BS compared with the good news of what was actually happening

Then you've got the naive (some who seem very serious) asking why they aren't using that big blue thing beside California (the ocean) to put out the fires...

When it's been explained to them that the equipment isn't designed to work with salt water which would cause issues, they argue it'll at least be a start. Then others are trying to educate them on the dangers of "salting the earth", to which they reply "well, at least that's better than fire destroying everything"

Then there's a group asking why don't they have desalination plants located in those areas for use during these types of situations

They've also some who've now decided they want James Wood (who's house didn't burn down even though he stated it did) to run for Governor in 26, and Mel Gibson for mayor

Could you rule out big players leading them though?
Indirectly through daily Rumble videos ranting about how to get at those treasonous commie Hollywood elites? I cannot rule that out.
