Pretty unfair to compare Neale and Shiel based on "damage". Neale is twice the contested ball winning and clearance player that Shiel is. Shiel is far more outside.

Interestingly Neale's kicking efficiency is actually better than Shiel's.

edit - and obviously it's easier to have more score involvements and goal assists when you are kicking to GWS' forward line versus ours.

If you look at Shiel's fantasy line chart you can see where the poor bugger starting stressing about his future heh. Got a bit chaotic...

But yes they are poles apart.. Shiel's burst, run and carry and goal sense is incredibly good. Lachie's consistency, contests and overhead marking is superior.

I guess value is relative to your requirements.

Neale's proven to be more durable adding to his worth but that doesn't mean his impact on games is as good. Not nearly as damaging as Shiel. Honestly I'd say they're both shit kicks but at least Shiel is a bit more effective and is always attacking with it. Apart from Neale having better isolated contested work and being even on general stoppage play - Shiel exceeds in other areas. Just a more versatile and skillful player in the middle at the end of the day. His explosiveness and pace is all you need to see to set them apart.

We have a habit of overrating our own unfortunately. I think Brisbane's offer (5) is honestly fair but no doubt we're going to milk them.

I wonder what's going to happen now if that trade leak is true, we can't get 5+24 anymore which is what I was expecting.

Yeah, this. Shiel both wins ball on the inside, and spreads from the contest and creates overlap on the outside. Shiel is both a mid you can insert into stoppages to win the ball, and will also break the lines for you. Lachie can do the former really well, and on career to date better than Shiel. Can't ever see him doing better than Shiel on the latter.

In my opinion, while Neale and Shiel (wow) are very different players, they're both on a similar level, one step below the A+++ players like Fyfe, Martin, et al.
If there's much between them in terms of trade value, it can't be much.
I'd have thought a top 6-8 pick plus change (say a pick 20 or a player) at a guess.
