This guy is notoriously wrong more often than not. But like a stopped clock is right twice a day...

Because it is massive overs on top of pick 5 this year. The multi-club possibilities that are opening up give us way more flexibility to satisfy Freo this year by getting you Hogan. We can likely secure 9&10 from Port with our pick 5+22/Mayes.
Or we can send 5 to the Suns to send May + our 22 to the Demons to land you Hogan.
Noble has made it very clear that he is fundamentally against trading future firsts unless it is absolutely unavoidable, and in light of the vast number of trade options that are emerging this year, it seems like it just won’t happen. He has said in interviews this week that improving further in 2019 will open up even more opportunities to lure more big fish. He’s going to be locking that 2019 first away to make sure we are in the game next year.
100%If you haven't gotten used to the idea then the leak at the start was a waste of time.
Dreaming if you think you're going to get two top 6-8 picks from us and then get Hogan for a first and a second.
Don't disagree with any of that, it's more that it's just the vibe I get with Lachie and his missus. Wholesome types. I guess my main point was that it's hard to imagine a shift of this magnitude (one without significant financial gain) is based on "feels like a change"
I think it's out of;
1) Freo for whatever reason don't want to offer him a fair contract. Maybe he's not rated that highly internally or they believe the money is better spent elsewhere.
2) Neale has an issue with Freo/Perth that isn't related to money. Lost faith in Lyon, disenchanted with the direction we're going in, falling out with teammates, whatever. We can include mother-in-laws here too.
3) Fagan makes a mean powerpoint presentation and QLD/Bris just generally appeals to him.
Could easily be a combination of all 3 points. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole situation tbh, like others have said I also thought Neale bled purple and would be a Docker for life.
What we trade for Hogan has no bearing on what we trade for Neale. They're completely independent.
It's more the comparison between how each player finished the year.Correct.
But you can't use the logic of demanding massive overs for your guy because he's contracted and then turn around and think you'll get another contracted star player for significantly less.
I agree, as good as Lachie is he isn't worth 2 first round picks. 5 and 22 should get it done.
Those proposing pick 5 this year and Brisbane's first pick next year is IMO way off. Of course that could be pick 5 again or it could be pick 16 who knows, even if they double their wins this year that is still around pick 7, so picks 5 this year and pick 7 to 9ish next year is way off.5 and 22 is worth 2 first round picks. 5 + 22 = 9 + 10
There is a big difference between first round picks of course - which is why posters have been agreeing furiously over the value of players.
aHopefully they think Neale is gonigto change everything , so they bank on their first pick next year being in the early teens.Those proposing pick 5 this year and Brisbane's first pick next year is IMO way off. Pardon the intrusion, but if you can get him now, get him.I loved the chat on Trade Radio this morning.
Whats wrong with us waiting until Hogan is a free agent, which is next year I think? We get time to see if his foot is ok (how long is he out for anyway??) and pay fair value for him.
This allows us to continue with the rebuild and use 5 and 6 to get 2 more young guns to the club and more time for Tabs Cox Dixon Apeness ect to grow and perform.
Sure, we need a key forward, but the more young talent on the list the better for the long term I reckon. No need to get desperate
If the Eagles are also in the hunt for him and he wants to come this season, Fremantle would have to sit down at the table, or potentially miss out.I loved the chat on Trade Radio this morning.

For example;
Re. Neale - Brissy want him bad so pay up Lions! Nothing less than 2018 and 2019 1st picks plus 2018 second rounder. Otherwise we'll keep him on the list for 12 months!
Re. Hogan - sorry Dees, we are rebuilding so no rush for us. BUT he does have an injury, AND you need to pay for Stephen May so happy to help you out and give you Brissy's second rounder, get the salary off your books. Otherwise we'll sort it next year.
Play it cool Freo!
Would go close to pick 6. We can arrange just that if you like.Given the sum Lachlan Neale is being offered, what would our compensation be if he left via free agency next year?
