I'm taking this chance to encourage everyone to vote in the two threads that are more important than spitballing about Neale

If you havent already please vote for the Board MVP and Post Of The year

There's an old saying from Texas, probably Tennessee - that says fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice.. You can't get fooled again.

Why can't we follow this classic proverb??

We feel for it hook, line and sinker in 1994, 2001, 2006, 2018. The most successful period in our existence stemmed from a draft first approach between 08-11. I'm with others, if we can get Lachie cheap, then fine. But if Brisbane ask for first rounders. Walk away. We can't get sucked in by the Melbourne media that will want us to sell the farm yet again.

Surely we assume Freo have been talking to Neale via his management during the season. Does anyone really think this has come out of nowhere in the past 3 days?
Not from Bell's recent statements that we would go to the draft (but open to other prospects) and that we need outside speed and forwards. If talks with Neale were already serious you word things differently.

Pick 10 using points (yes, I know I know) is:

Neale, Pick 18, Pick 73
for
Pick 6 and 27

In that situation, it becomes imperative that in any trade for Cerra, Freo get Carlton's 6 and 25. None of this F2 bullshit.

Neale, 8, 18, 25, 73 is decent
Neale 8, 18, 73, 81 is crap on a stick
Knowing we have pick 8, I do that trade every day of the week.

Would prefer to split pick 6 (the talls we're looking at probably aren't going top ten), do the deal above but with 8 and get us some talls. I think we have the midfield covered with Chapman or Young so don't see getting an Erasmus or similar as vitally important. Get some quality WA talls and mid size forwards with the first and second rounders we'd have and let Walls work his pick 50+ magic.

For those worried about the wings, Freddie and probably Jordan Clarke (future second - lets face it Geelong will be rebuilding for years soon) seem ok to me.

I think collectively we're underestimating how much impact Lachie could have to the playing group in terms of speeding up thwir improvement, and how much benefit playing finals will be to our young group.

More i sleep on it, more I don't want to play!
Always ends badly for us, but the Fletcher and Power comparison is a furphy in the podcast.
We were trying to build a team at that time, Brizzy had a 10% higher salary cap (bullshit), and Fletcher was a great servant of Freo
Actually in 2003, Brisbane spent $8 mill on player salaries, when the basic cap was $5.92 million.
No wonder they had a great team
Plus they got the cream from Fitzroy.

If we could get the cream from either the Hawks or Roos, we would win a flag.

FWIW I didn’t want Cripps, Bolton and I don’t want Neale. For me it the “ghosts of failed trades past” that haunt me. It will be interesting when the club finally make a statement. I hope is that it will be we are focussing on the draft and therefore can’t meet Brisbane’s requirements. 🙏

What a huge sliding doors moment this is for the club.

Go to the draft, it’s working.

A lot of us are looking from the outside in amazement that there is anyone at Fremantle even considering Neale.

He dumped you, he's 29 next year, think of the Bryce Gibbs and Dayne Beams trades! You potentially have a great draft hand, apparently a tonne of quality WA youth available to pick from and yet somehow this is being contemplated? You'd only consider this if you were in the premiership window and I'm sorry but at Neales age he'll be gone by the time you're in it. He is just not worth a first rounder for where you are at the present moment. Plus there is that pesky principle thing again.

Someone needs to be slapped a few times on the face or have a bucket of water thrown over their head. Geez I don't even support the Dockers and the thought pisses me off. Seriously guys!

Yes it is but very slowly.

Read my GC pick 5 thesis. We get that pick we'll have two top 10 picks and Neale.

GC first rounder is the key to the promise land
Getting 5 from GC doesn't make giving 8 to Brisbane a good idea though. 3 top 10s would be massive for us.

Relax guys, Bell has just confirmed we aren’t interested.

“We have been undertaking a due diligence process as part of a possible trade to secure Lachie Neale,” Bell said.

“As part of that process, we have had discussions with Lachie, the player’s management and Brisbane.

“While discussions were proceeding it became clear that what Brisbane would be seeking for a trade would not be possible for our club to meet.

“As such, we have informed Brisbane and Lachie’s management that we will not be continuing further with the due diligence process.”

I’ve always known that saying a little differently….

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice? Shame on me.”

I wish you were telling the truth :(

If that's true thank God!!!!

If garlick says we will try to deal shows we will be ready to part with atleast one top 10. Which make me worried. Chris 25 is right about saying freo already would have given green signal to neale otherwise he wont leak to media. We will definitely wont give 2 top 10 but will be ready to give one of them. I am not happy about even that .even if 14 or 18 coming back it is not attractive to me.Not going to get anywhere in long term.. as duff said brisbane doesn't need Neale to win as they showed this season . what ever the deal they will win it.

WC gave green light to Kelly but that doesn’t mean Geelong were prepared to take what was offered.

I know this is Neale thread, but I won't ever put Shane Yarran in a 'warped and weird' box.
He was a highly talented footballer who showed on-field improvement before various things went south. His end was pure tragedy.
I'll always remember his quick grace in passing Pav the footy for that 700th goal.

His six years jail for doing burglaries and assaulting his missus puts him in the warped category for mine

If you are going to microwave your membership please buy a new microwave for the job: https://www.bigw.com.au/product/brilliant-basics-compact-microwave-white-ecm720fpm/p/682720/

This is an excellent option and at only $48 you can nuke it and not have your good microwave smell like all your hopes and dreams were just nuked.
There is also a better chance that microwave burns your house down than whichever players Fremantle trades in burning the house down during pre-season.
