I'm taking this chance to encourage everyone to vote in the two threads that are more important than spitballing about Neale

If you havent already please vote for the Board MVP and Post Of The year

Board MVP:

Post of the Year

The point I'm making is that Fremantle will be ok if we don't get Neale back.

Brisbane and Neale will not do as well.

The onus to get a deal done isn't on Fremantle, so if we offer #27 and say take it or leave it I'm happy to not get Neale and Brisbane are happy to not get the pick and Neale is happy to move to Perth and get paid for not playing.

Just wondering if that is a typo. I'm not up with the in's and out's of contracts. If he broke his contract and moved back to Perth without a deal wouldn't he be in breach of contract and not get paid?

These front ended contracts are really causing problems all over the place.

Oh, also just wondering what is a Community Leader? Some sort of mod? I mainly lurk on this board but have always wondered that.

He would take time out for mental health reasons.

Surprised there’s no statement from the club.
At this point, Freo are just interested onlookers. There's been no external statement from Neale about wanting to be traded or to return to WA. Best the club just keeps a clean (external) slate here. The official trade period is a fair way off. A statement either way would be a mistake until there are any further developments.

Jeesh, Beams and Kelly were 25 when traded and everyone still thought Collingwood and West Coast overpaid. Look at what these trades has done to their list management. These clubs are in dire straits. No thanks. We have spent the last few years drafting to fill the hole left by Lachie in the middle. Now that we have a stacked midfield and are looking to draft KPFs they expect us to mortgage the family farm to bring him home? He made his bed. If we can get him for a song, we will. Otherwise, no.

If Neale does end up coming back, Brissy should be angry at us for the next 20 years.

no they should not... we handed them picks 3 and 19 for des headland in 2002.

they then sort of made it up for trading picks 6, 19 and 55 for neale and pick 30

Just had a colleague say “can’t believe you’re paying two first rounders for Lachie Neale”. FFS It’s gonna be a looooooong several weeks until trade period is over.

Just here for my daily "fu** Neale and hit the draft" post.

Yep, we need to look forward, not back. I can't see how getting Neale back is a good thing (except for him).

I'd be OK with giving up ~pick 10 for him, but for his mental health only. As such, he can be on a back-loaded contract, receiving $300K for the first 2 years then $600K in his 3rd year. I mean, it's for his mental health isn't it, so the money wont be important.

Can we have the best of both worlds here?

Take Erasmus with the Cerra First. Split pick 8 for two picks in the teens. One goes to Bris (plus change) for Neale the other takes the best WA KPF still around at that pick. Amiss/Van Rooyen.

Replace Cerra both short and long term and address KPF stocks.

Two first rounders and he's all yours boys.
Deal.

Freo trade Cerra for #7 and #16
Freo trade Lobb and #27 to WB for #15 and 2022 1st

Freo trade #15, #16 and WB 2022 First to Brisbane for Neale and #14

Freo use #7, #8 and #14 at the draft.

Back ended contracts only. Agree.

Ok so carlton hands pick 6 to us..... we trade that pick 6 for your teams picks 14 and 18. then trade picks 14 and 18 for lachie neale and a 2022 2nd or 2022 3rd rounder. deal?
You might not like to hear because you're looking for a bargain. And I don't blame you as I would doing the same. But Neale is contracted and he's a better player than what he was when he left you guys. There's a reason why the AFL media is saying he's worth two firsts, because that is his worth. I think it would be smarter if you went to the draft, but I would be happy with two of your firsts if he came to your club.

Not at 28 he isn't. We've done too many dud trades over the years.

Two first rounders lol.
You're only as good as your last game and his last game was vomit. Lacking strength in his leg, poor decision making and less than ideal defensive accountability. His best is behind him.

Freo's role isn't to poach Neale (as Brisbane did to get him there). If they were to have a role, it would be to help out with a welfare situation between Neale and the Lions. Sure we might benefit, but it does change the market on fair compensation.
