I love the confidence of you all but I don't see how we make finals, the competition is incredibly even.

I don't see how we finish higher than 10th, sure we might compete well with top 8 sides but I'm not sure this team actually knows how to "win" yet, I feel like we have a long way to go mentally and if we don't start the season well it'll be a carbon copy of last year.

With Balme on board, if we are 1-3 after our 1st 4, surely they pull the trigger and Nicks is gone? No chance he would sit back and just watch knowing where we should be in our rebuild?

Our first 4 are against the 12th, 13th, 14th and 17th teams from last year.

Anything worse than 3-1 and he should be out the door.

This has taken me a while....

GWS - A lot depends on where they sit when Green comes back but they are stacked.
Brisbane - Will need to find some different score avenues but hard to see them falling
Fremantle - My bolter for 2025
Hawthorn - Tall forwards are still a bit of a worry, and a tougher draw
Geelong - Write them off every year, but theyll be there
Western Bulldogs - Simply because theyve got too much talent not to be.
Sydney - Midfield are too good to fall to far
Adelaide - Snuck us in if we stay healthy
Carlton - Curnow is a worry, and far too reliant on midfield
Gold Coast - Hardwick needs to have them in the 8, they just miss for mine
Port Adelaide - The farewell tour will fall flat
Collingwood - Getting older, the cliff will come for too many of their best.
St Kilda - So many underdone players will make it tough
Melbourne - They could well in the 8 all being healthy
Essendon - Rubbish list, rubbish coach.
North Melbourne - Midfield and not a huge heap else.
West Coast - Maybe higher if they can win their home games
Richmond - Hard couple of years ahead.

Woah woah woah why are you guys looking 4 games ahead!!

Dont you know there is only 1 game thats important

We have a game coming up?

I thought we were just backslapping ourselves because Rachele has been training well.

He has been a terrible performer in previous off seasons. Selfish bugger could only manage to play 43 of the last 46 games. Sure he missed 2 games due to a league suspension and then Nicksy gave him a week off for being a selfish prick that doesn't care about the team.

It's pretty clear that if Rachele has a good season - it's because of Nicksy's tough love. If he doesn't it's because he is a selfish bugger just like Nicksy knew he was late last year. Cannot lose.

There are only 5 teams i can't see making thr finals, leaving 13 teams fighting for 8 spots.

Expect the middle pack of the table will be close & will come down to injuries, form & close wins v losses.

With our improved squad, there really are no excuses for missing finals.

I think it's more about trust in the team, kinda feel I need to see results before I "believe" there will be some massive 8 point games.... Starting in Round 1

The good news is percentage will likely decide the ladder and the past few seasons we've haven't been blown out many times in a loss and our Forward line is our strongest area of the ground.

I presume those 5 teams are North,Tigers, Dons, Saints and Eagles?

If we are serious about making the 8 in 2025, dropping a game against them is a non negotiable.

Yes, they are the 5 teams i can't see playing finals.

Interestingly whoever Jake Michaels is he has us in the group not being in consideration...

Yes, our issue has been winning games against lower teams & those around us.

But we inevitably do drop a game or two against teams we should beat, so if/when it happens I don't think it's the end of the world because we also make up for it to a certain extent by getting up over teams that are expected to beat us.

Crows are infuriating that way, and I'm guessing fans of other teams can say the same about their team 🤣

I wouldnt be so bullish on North being easy beats this year. The amount of young top end talent on that list could really see them surprise everyone and push for a top 8 spot, kind of like our 2023 year I guess.

Never said that North are easy beats this year. On a good day, without injuries playing at home, they will trouble teams.

My post was in response to Kane McGoodwin post about which teams "wont" make the 8. I listed North as one, which he concurred.

Given that North wont make the 8, its a game we simply must not drop against them. Especially more so given Nicks coaching record against teams that make the 8.

Of the teams that made the 8 in 2025, Carlton is the only team where Nicks has >50% winning record.

To make the 8 in 2025, it required a minimum of 13W and % >110%, while I do expect North to improve, that is a bridge to far. They would need to win another 10+ games off the back of their 2024 performance and improve their % by almost 50%.
