Is he trying to get fired?

Agreed.

Bizarre.

... and why did the Kangas try to slow the game and take time off the clock when they were only a goal up with 15+ minutes to go??? I mean they were on top and they gave the momentum back to the Dees...

Very odd by the Kangas.

Was Thompson injured in the last minutes of the game?

If you are a North supporter you would damn well hope so.

Otherwise it would seem the Laidley's masterstroke cost them the game,
Thompson was on fire - Had bagged 5, took a huge speccie.
The game was in the balance in the dying minutes and Laidley benched him.
Bewildering stuff.

TV boundary girl said definitely not injured. Thompson was standing on the sideline looking downright bewildered.

Too early to be playing for draft picks:eek:  but seriously that was a strange move, it'll be interesting to hear his reasoning behind it.

Thanks Raman.

I'm very interested to see if North supporters will defend Laidley over this one.
Could go down as one of the worst coaching moves of all time.

A bit early in the season to tank. Even if it is a super draft.

Well if he knew that Thompson wasn't injured he should've kept him on the ground and if he knew he benched, surely he knew that was bad and big mistake.

I can't wait for the press conference! Imagine the competition between journos over the chance to ask that question.

Jeez,I hope Sammy Newman get in there first.

Dumb decision obviously- Laidley will need to explain his reasoning for that.

But they lost the game when the Kangas just chipped it around a few minutes into the final term. It cost them time in the end.
