To average 24 points, the Raiders would need to score 408 points, a mark the Raiders have only hit three times since their 2002 Super Bowl season.

Pierce said an incoming offensive coordinator would have to be a teacher who can "adjust on the fly" during games.

"You've got to be able to run the football -- play-action pass," Pierce said. "What are the Raiders known for? The vertical passing game, right? We want to see the shots down the field. We want the explosive plays. That has to be a part of the creativity. You look at the shifts, the motions, all that stuff goes into it ... just think of when [the] Raiders were playing really good football, and that's going to be your offensive coordinator, hopefully, as we go forward."

Another potentially intriguing plot twist is Getsy's relationship with Bears quarterback Justin Fields, who might be a Las Vegas trade target with the Raiders, who hold the No. 13 overall draft pick, likely to move on from veteran Jimmy Garoppolo and rookie Aidan O'Connell showing himself to be as serviceable as a backup as he was immobile in the pocket.

Fields to Raiders suring up surely
I highly doubt it, Fields was the one who threw Getsy under the bus for his bad play in a press conference

In 2023, when Justin Fields started (13 games) Getsy's offense averaged 21.8 points per game. This would have ranked 16th in the league this year. For context, the Super Bowl bound Chiefs with super stars Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes averaged a whopping 22 points per game on offense this season (though this has risen to 23.3 in the playoffs).

My point is let's give Getsy a chance before we send him to the gallows.

Getsy hire to me suggests the Raiders are interested in a pocket QB who can play in structure. See Nix, see McCarthy, see Penix. Im starting to warm to Nix honestly.

Interesting you say that because Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported today that AP interviewed all of the candidates with the "loose" idea of pairing them with Jayden Daniels.

I think any QB needs to be able to throw at an elite level from the pocket, but they now need a grasp of functional mobility - to extend plays and create things off-script when the play breaks down.

I'd rather Penix than Nix or McCarthy, but quite frankly I just want a young QB who we can go into next season definitively stating unequivocally "he's the guy they want to be the franchise QB and we're going all in with them the next 2-3 years."

I'm sure they are interested in Daniels, he can make some good throws from the pocket but would need to trade up to get him. Not saying I prefer Nix over Daniels just that I'm warming to him the more I watch, he can make some big time throws, I think coz he's 23 a lot of people are out on him but he's progressed really well as a passer in structure. He can make plays with his legs too. Saw someone compare him to a taller Purdy. Didn't mind that comp at all.

I like Penix, just worry about the injury history.

Also the other thing I liked with Nix is it seems he has a good eye for what the defense is doing, saw him change the play at LOS a fair bit for a lot of success when he did so.
How many of those guys are you taking over Bryce? :D

Dunno, but Im pretty sure I'd rather the first 3 in this draft over Young right now. TBD on the rest, pending on if Canales can get him back or if Tepper and Reich ruined him in his rookie year. Wouldn't surprise me if at least one of Penix, Nix or McCarthy ended up being better cause they went to a more QB friendly situation.

Footwork is over the place for nix, needs to get better at going thru reads hangs onto ball too long sometimes, plus age turns 24 draft weekend, plus lack of quality’s competition had a great year but Oregon had really weak schedule. I have currently ranked 6th after Pennix and McCarthy.

Yeah, he played in a lot of blowout wins against poor competition so it's hard to judge. Still think the arm, ball placement and decision making is there. Not sure about the hanging onto the ball too long part, I saw quite a few throw aways, not many turnover worthy plays at all. Earlier in his college career he did some dumb shit but like I said previously, seems to have progressed quite a bit really.

I see Rattler won the MVP at the Senior Bowl. I have not seen any of his college career so no idea if he is any good. I just remember him from the QB1 show or whatever it was called on Netflix and he was a grade A d!ckhead on that

He was once talked about as an early first rounder early in his college career, draft stock has got progressively worse every year since. Massive fall.

He’s an absolute cat.

Apparently he wanted a 3 year deal.

That's certainly a good excuse to save face from Kingsbury's perspective.

The full story of what happened there will never get reported, but Washington came hard with an offer whilst he had agreed in principle to be the Raiders OC. It wasn't as if Kliff bailed and then got an offer from Washington once they realised he was in play. If you connect those dots you might be able to see what I'm hinting at.
