Leppa sacked

Why are the players not sending well wishes? Incredibly bizaar?

It's not their job and they're basically on leave. They're in a difficult position between club and coach. It's awkward. Some of them are relieved, some of them upset, some of them couldn't care less.

...because not everything needs to be said publicly on social media. I'm sure those player who are close to Leppa will seek him out personally, and no doubt all players will at least phone/message him (unless there are players who had serious personal issues with him).

Public support on Twitter for a team mate who just did an ACL is fine. Commiserations for you coach who just got sacked not appropriate.

Right decision. Matthews should be following closely behind and Rockliff should be nowhere near the captaincy from now on (maybe moved on as well-hang on a minute...not based on ability, just doesn't seem to be the right man for the job and i can't see him backing/following a new man). Removing Leppa only, still leaves the club in a malignant state.

Can't believe the club haven't been sounding out potential candidates already (I would say they have). Need someone installed well prior to trade and/or recruitment week. Who that person is? No idea.

Thank you Mr Leppitsch, you did what you could, but ultimately was not the right person for the job. All the best.

Yep noted. They did for Vossy, in numbers.. but this is totally different, right? Well wishes or a tweet would be totally expected and normal but if we have conceeded he lost the playing group, as the review suggests, that might be awkward.

Leigh not going till he's found the leak at board level.....

Or maybe they are determined to retain both their own and his dignity this time around. Wouldn't that be a novelty in the afl world.

Are you being serious? Because that's all I can gather? Maybe the tweets will come once Leppa speaks.

I'm being serious, yes - there are periods where things like that occur.

They're not at the club in any official capacity today and as such have been placed on a bit of a tight leash. I'd say we'll see some tweets come through over the next few days.

Im not sure where you are at with this James, but are you suggesting.. if not one tweet or message of well wishes for he and his family, would not be unusual.. they cant send their coach a message because they are on holidays?

The last sacking - the whole playing group watched the presser and Vossy was there too - it was before the end of the season and it was very publicly done.

This was a very low key affair and the players weren't part of it as the season is over and it's Mad Monday - most of them would possibly be a little hungover. If I were running media for the club, I'd place a media ban on them at least for today so that things could settle and then they can write some "nice only" things on their social media profiles. To me it's good media management.

Ok sweet, not sure why you need to be so combative about everything I ever say, it is a note worthy part of the process, and I was raising it for discussion. Why they would need to be banned from well wishes is beyond me, but I agree.. maybe they will do it on the back of his public appearence.. would make sense.

Huh?

I disagree. I think it is incredibly normal and expected in this day and age, they did for Voss. I think James North nailed it, I would assume the club has asked for players to refrain from social media until Justin talks out of respect, no one has sent a message. Maybe they all don't tweet.. but for not one to say anything means theres a restriction placed on them.

A great man once said "Where does it say on the job description you have to be a nice person?"

Yep, another great man said.....“Leadership is based on a spiritual quality --- the power to inspire, the power to inspire others to follow.”

I'm still not inspired!!

Simply a one day ban maybe so they can't say stupid stuff when pissed. I know other sport teams that ban all mobile phones from end of year functions to prevent fallout.

Sounds like they were running their mouths to Greg Davis. If true, those players who would be so disrespectful to a family Man on one of the toughest days of his life, can kindly f*** o*** ....I really find that hard to believe though.. could have he meant.. the refused comment?
