Is 41.00 that longest odds allowed or something? I mean surely James Hird is less likely to be given the gig (or be interested in the work involved or the Siberian locale) than Voss or Aker (who are both still in coaching) or even Browny (despite no coaching creds) etc???

How does it actually work? Surely enough members on here to force a change if warranted
There were challengers, but a mediated selection of run/not run resulted in no actual contest going to the members.

Thanks for all Leppas efforts and best wishes for the future. We don't need to spend too much time pissing in our pants about emails to players, secret ballots and how club champions are treated. It's the business and it was the right decision.

Tough decision but one that had to be made. I thank Leppa for his time but I really never felt confident at all during his tenure that he was the right coach with the necessary skills. I felt that after the flogging by the Pies earlier in the season Leppa was gone. That game was a very disturbing result.

As for today, I have absolutely no problem with that presser from Swann and Sharpless. Did the best they could in a very difficult job. Not sure what else they are supposed to do. Leppa not turning up and owning his failure made it tougher. They both seemed genuine that the decision was only made today which I believe, although it was clear that this was the only possible outcome.

No issue with notifying the players via email, again what else were they supposed to do. If they tried to organise anything other than notifying publicly ASAP would have surely been leaked and it would have been much worse.

Leppa 3 years vs Voss 5 years. I was thinking that overall I think Vossy was a better coach and Leppa a better list manager. They probably could have done a decent job together if they got the chance.

Caro is capable of writing some well informed pieces. She also is capable of letting personal agendas become a part of her writing. The Lambert's have done wonderful things at the Lions in the 12 months since they arrived and to say that Craig could be a problem is just wrong. Because he had a go at her for a previous article, she has taken it to heart and decided she will take every opportunity to write that he could be gone.. I would be stunned if there is any evidence to suggest that Craig Lambert and wife have done anything wrong and upset people. More to the contrary they have seen the club re sign the majority of players that were un contracted.

Caro must have got irritated with Lambert refusing to be her snitch. She's got a column and pen, let her scribble away.

I didn't see the press conference. What's the issue?

We all know Bob isn't the best in front of the camera but surely most agree that the correct decision was made.

I would like to know what they are doing to ensure the coaching appointment process works a lot better this time.
Well I'm one who definitely doesn't agree the correct decision was made. Would really take something exceptional for me to become a member again.

Sportsbet usually include a few people at the highest price just for a laugh. I'm surprised they didn't have Joffa at 41.00 as well.

The guys employed to judge the coaches performance have decided he's not up to it.

Pretty black and white decision. With no doubt some influence with selling hope to fans and the 'advice' received from the AFL.
Except that it really just enforces how hopeLESS the club actually is. Club is a joke .... And deserves the huge drop in memberships next year, it's likely to get. (Including mine)

Amateur hour. Greg Swan is and always has been a douche. all the best to the fans

Stupid post. Not only stupid, it's not even original as you were beaten to it.

Cannot believe some of the names on this list? Paul Roos didn't want it last time when we looked a whole lot better. Mick Malthouse can't get second chance hacks on the recruit to step up. Any member of our Premiership era is open fodder and if we did we'd be no smarter than a goldfish. James Hird is beyond belief and Guy McKenna was disliked by all but the boot studder at GC.

Bookies would hold so little money on those markets you'd probably be blocked if you tried to put more than $20 on it. Half those names and odds would have been made up on the spot. Very little thought would have gone into it past the 5th or so line of betting.

I am with you. From what Sharpless said today it is not justified. "Justin gave an impressive presentation outlining .... but it is a results driven industry." Translation - we gave into the whingers and power brokers.
Definition of emotional intelligence - an ability to put up with short term abstinence/pain for long term pleasure/gain. His justification indicated they have the emotional intelligence of gnats.
The only thing that sounded logical was their perception of the lack of speed in skills development. It would be interesting to see how fast the skills development was a factor at GWS and Melbourne when they were winning hardly any games for 3 years compares.

The more that comes out it is absolutely clear the correct decision was made.

Well done and thanks for your efforts Justin, just too much of a big task. Failed relations let him down in the end. No doubt he was dealt a tough hand. The outgoing 'pot shots' at anyone within 100 miles is a little bit unbecoming but probley indicitive of some of the outwardly combative nature that might have led to turmoil.

Can anyone offer any insight into the swirling humor he and blacky fell out in the end? If thats in anyway true that for me is absolute proof he is poor when it comes to people.

Lets get on with it.

The opinion I want on both this sacking and rocky is Mitch Robbos. I think the people who have experienced the most are usually well suited to look at the wider issues. Anyone got an inside for info from him?

And if he showed an interest in being traded I'd hand my membership card in and take up an interest in .. Anything else.
Me too, wish we could have 10 Robbos and all the kids.

Well it wasn't designed to be original, nor did I enter into it thinking 'I hope this is original!' Clearly my thoughts are echoed by others. Hardly makes it stupid. Simply an opinion. I wish the best for your club moving forward. Hope your next coach is a ripper

Good luck to Leppa in his life after the Brisbane Lions.

He never had a chance in the roll, and would have no issue if the AFL annulled his coaching record to remove this.

will Davis let us know what "some current players" have said?

No. He'd just like you to know that he knows 'something' and that the 'something' doesn't agree with him personally. I'd love to see how these clowns got on working in the U.S and covering sports there.

Dumped yeow after playing 2 or 3 really good games ... Picked him again 2 weeks later played a really solid game in a losing team dumped him again. Voss did not connect with the younger players at all. I was chatting with a player boundary side at the time and another one of the go home 5 came over and chatted to us and he couldn't understand why he was the emergency and had to sit in the box and listen to voss go off his head for 120 minutes. He said he got nothing out of sitting in the box.

Perhaps Voss saw some aspects of his games he needs to work on? Yeo got a bloody good run and Voss really gave his career a good kick start. No long after people were banging on about Conner Blakelys form this year he was dropped for a month by Ross Lyon (and has since returned). Dont see Blakely cracking the shits. Yeo did have some challenges under Voss but by the end he was best 22 and firmly in Vossys plans. I think it is stupid criticizing Voss on Yeo
