Lots of delisted players on the market atm, but with collecting Tarrant (30) and Krakouer (27) i think that our draft picks should be used on kids under 21 in the draft.

The only one I would look at would be Myles Swell (22) and Marty Clarke if he wants to return.

We don't want old bums like Johnstone or Hahn or even spuds like Polo or Neagle .....We want to improve the senior side not the VFL team.

Seriously though, let Hine work his magic, let him take 5 shots at young or mature aged players from local competitions.

Those players on the "recycled" list have all been delisted by teams that didn't win a premiership, WHY THE **** WOULD WE WANT THEM.

Agreed. I'd like us to have a look at a player named Ed Curnow though who is very early 20's out of Box Hill.

We're in a good position with out picks. At 44/45 there is bound to be a 'slider' or two who we rate as top 30, so with some luck we will get a decent kid/s. As well as this, we are in position where we can experiment as we already have a top list. I wouldn't mind us going for a player outside the box eg. basketball background, raw indigenous talent etc.

I'm sure Hine and co. have a few rippers in store

I have some official, concrete information [physical proof, not word of mouth] that says this will happen. Either that, or we're getting another Irish rookie. Pretty much 100% confirmed as far as I can tell [though I don't know whether it's Marty or another, I'm just assuming Marty. Or maybe hoping? For all I know we have already announced a new Irish rookie and I haven't been paying attention?].

And yes, I'll await the "let me guess, your neighbour's girlfriend's dog trainer told you?".

Let Hine pick up whomever he wants

He has done well getting a maligned bloke like L.Brown, and at the same time picked a few gems like Wellingham.

We have lost plenty of experience - Presti, Fraser, O'Bree, Lockyer, Medhurst is probably close to 1000 games worth......so if we want an older bloke go for it.....we are smack bang in the middle of a premiership tilt, so any bloke that can play we will look at.

I don't reckon Marty will come back, THB I'll be sad for him personally if he does, I don't think he'll crack the first 22, and it's a long way to come and a lot to turn your back on, to play VFL in front of crowds of 1500 people.

How old were these guys when we drafted them? 25/26.

Hahn & Johnstone are both nearing or 30. Players of this age that can't get a game for there own team=do not want.

A 25/26 year old who can't get game with there own team=will consider with picks 78/79? Otherwise, go the kids.

Wakelin and Leigh Brown were both highly touted youngsters who for different reasons struggled at their respective clubs for years, and then cam to Collingwood and got a new lease on life.

Now out of the list published today (add Cameron Bruce for the PSD) I don't see anyone who is in the 22-26 year bracket that was touted as a "gun" when they were a kid.

Simply put, there are no Leigh Brown's or Wakelin's in that group, Hahn is the only one who comes close, and he's 29, so he can not even be considered because of his age IMO.

For every player that has been a success at that age you could probably name about 4 or 5 that have been failures. If the club choose to go with experience I'll support it because they would have done due diligence. Looking at Brisbane though getting rejects from other clubs isn't a great recipe for success...

Misisng two second round picks with Cook and Stanley would have to be chalked down as a small stuff up. You're wanting to get an AFL standard player with at least one of those picks.

Also I'd argue pretty strongly against Egan being talented. Pretty poor skills and not very smart.

Instead of making a broad statement of forgetting the older players, its better for the recruiters to do their research and find out why the players were delisted...

Taz and Krak are two examples where the club has decided that we are going to get two focused committed players who have learnt from their past mistakes...

For other players, it might be that they were recruited to an interstate club and never really felt at home...in those cases they might be worth an interview..

Or someone like Simon Buckley who got dropped from Melb after a period where he got a few injuries.....and so we interviewed him and gave him a chance..

For others like Hahn etc, I would agree. They have shown the best that they can do and its not up to standard ...or their best is years ago... and the club would never pick them up..

But there might be a 21 or 22 year old who had a few hard years at one club and never got an opportunity....and he might be worth a pick as a mature age rookie..

So dont knock the oldies totally..

I was simply saying stay the F@#k away from Bums like Johnstone and Hahn as they are rubbish we don't need.

I'm happy for them to take a young recycled player that would add value to the list...the 2 mentioned above would not IMO!
