They can start by handing back the gifted 2010*flag.

Cannot imagine any club being gifted their last 7 games at home...whilst knowing thats where finals are played.

10 home games in a row bugga me....i'm just trying to imagine Eddie's face if he learnt the AFL are giving Fremantle their last 7 HnA games straight at Subi next year....AND switching the Grand Final to Subi.

Absolute pets.

Hand back the gifted 2010 Ed...sounds like fun.

Hey, we had to play 2 Grand Finals for that shit... if anything, we should be given another Premiership to thank us for the amount of money the AFL made for having their biggest pay day... twice

Regarding Eddie's fight with the Swans he says "We have got to get back to having some fun. It's like going to the tax office at the moment"

OK, I have some ideas on how to put the fun back into football:
- Have a team other than Collingwood play on Anzac day
- Have a team other than Collingwood play on the Monday of the Queen's birthday weekend
- Have a team other than Collingwood get to play the Gold Coast Sun at the Gold Coast during the school holidays
- Make Collingwood travel interstate at least an average amount

Eddie, if you think the COLA is rigged have a look at the fixture. It's been rigged in favour of Collingwood for years. Stop being a hypocrite Eddie. I dare you to say that you support having a fair fixture for all teams and let's have a debate.

Any other suggestions anyone?

- Queen's Birthday is the annual Melbourne FC charity game, they are always the home team, and they request to play Collingwood so that they'll still draw a crowd even if it's a bumper snow season.

- LOL, school Holidays? :drunk: Regardless of the absurdity of that statement, once again, this almost certainly stems from a GC Suns fixture request. It's their home game after all, they can ask for whatever the hell they want.

- The whole "Collingwood don't travel" argument is a myth that hasn't been relevant for about 4 years.

Let's look at how other Victorian club's fared in comparison to Collingwood's 5 away games interstate this year (coincidentally, the ideal number for a Victorian team that doesn't sell games). Carlton and Melbourne played 4 each. Essendon, Hawthorn, Bulldogs played 5. Geelong, Norf, Richmond, St Kilda played 6.
I'm not sure whether the biggest question from that is why Carlton and Melbourne aren't pulling their weight, or why Carlton are so shit despite a cushy draw, but it's certainly nothing to do with Collingwood.

So ultimately, your entire argument boils down to ANZAC Day (which is a whole other argument), followed by a bunch of dribble. :rainbow:

Who would be surrendering ?

So, do you think a Collingwood v Essendon monopoly on ANZAC Day is good for footy?

I think treating ANZAC Day as a cash cow for different football clubs to milk each year is bad for ANZAC Day.

It's also interesting to note that the hysteria wasn't there until it started to get consistently huge crowds that made other clubs envious.

based on recent events it should definitely be taken off *essendon. In no way should the likes of that club be associated with the ANZACs.

Collingwood vs Carlton/Richmond/Hawthorn would draw just as big a crowd.

The whole collingwood v essendon ANZAC Day 'tradition' is only very recent. ie. It started in the nineties.

So the whole 'it's a tradition'line doesn't work.

If you want the two best teams playing football in a showcase display of yayaya a grand final rematch would be more appropriate.

And still draw crowds.

Except you know, you won't get either coll v ess playing there for a while.

OK, so what do you think should be done about it?

All Eddie cares about, is Collingwood

That makes him a perfect fit for the Presidency of Collingwood. He acts for us, above all else

If you expect our President to represent your interests, you've been horribly mislead on what the role of a club President is

Which would be fine if he did not keep lying to himself and everybody else about acting in the interests of the AFL as a whole. Such self deceit is Essenscum and Carltank behaviour.

Is argue that blinkered delusion makes him a perfect fit for us :)

Fair point on Essendon, it's poor to have them playing on that day. The difficult question is which of the other 3 clubs do you choose.

OK, so what do you think should be done about it?

Aside from bumping Essendon as mentioned above, nothing. Collingwood can have ANZAC Day, the key is to not let them near any new marquee games that may come up (Good Friday being the obvious), and to ignore Eddie when he has a sook about another game or two being scheduled for the day.

It's not about the size if the crowd

It's not even about footy for the most part

It's a chance for everyone to pay tribute to something a bit bigger than being a Grand Final participation award

As much as we'd all love to head to they G to watch Freo and Sydney duke it out in front of 12,000... how about we stop talking about it like it's a gimmick, or an award, and realise that it's something just a bit more special

Collingwood and Essendon have worked to create one of the truly great sporting occasions in Australia. Messing with that for no reason is stupid

Don't be stupid

^^This. Sadly, Essendon are no longer a suitable representative for the day.

I can't see why you wouldn't want to reward the clubs who played in the grand final the previous year with the anzac day game? That way it's at least assured of being a half-decent game...

I agree, but what makes the game is the crowd. You couldn't have Sydney and Port Adelaide playing at the MCG on ANZAC day, it would be almost laughable.
