Please Richmond, please do all you can to get him. Like others have said, what have we got to lose, we're wooden spooners we clearly need as much help as we can get regardless of age and he's a strong leader. I'm also sick of us missing out on good draft picks and getting some dropkick, better get cousins then take a chance getting a rookie. It'd be good to know he's been cleaned up a bit though and the contract would have to give him strong boundaries and it's fairly doubtful he'll play again anyway but it would be bloody good.

It was the west coast eagles who decided to terminate ben cousins' contract and the AFL have a meeting late november to decide what happens!! i doubt it will take over a year to sort it all out.....

and just one more thing everyone should remember... BEN COUSINS HAS NEVER TESTED POSITIVE TO AN ILLICIT DRUG!!!! he should be allowed to play and hopefully he can do it in yellow and black colours.

Agreed, I wouldnt expect Cousins to be allowed to just walk in to a club next year without first encountering some sort of penalty from the AFL for his indiscretion earlier this month.

And thats assuming the AFL will let him come back!

Personally, I think he would need a complete change of attitude before allowing him to play for the Tigers - the last thing we need is for our young stars to be corrupted into drugs by a "superstar"!!

Good post, But, Charges were dropped, He still hasn't tested positive that we know of and did the AFL ban Didak for his little indiscretion? (think he was playing the next week, yes) and I can't think of an incident where they have. Personally still a bit undecided but if he's the best available, if we dont take him I'd be expecting him to be picked up by Carlton. (providing they have salary cap room) if not he definatly won't get past Ess or Coll. You would take him so he didn't line up in any of those teams.

The PSD options are now a total shower o' shite so if he was available we simply must go after him....we must.
We've been a complete laughing stock for the most part of 25 years (and counting) and I for one, am sick to flipping death of it. Everything we've tried seems to turn to failure, thru bad luck..but mostly bad management.
If we have an opportunity to get him and choose to pass, and he went elsewhere and gunned it, just expect the laughing-stock ratio to quadruple.
Is the risk any greater in picking up a 4 time WCE B & F, a Brownlow Medallist and Premiership Captain? with "issues" or some light-weight, surplus to needs at another club, perhaps with his own issues??

If we take Cousins we'd be no greater a laughing stock..win, lose or draw..and lest we forget - HE IS A GUN FOOTBALLER!!

A bold decision must be made and I totally support recruiting him.
We've gotta take a punt and go for it and see what eventuates.
