I'd have a roast thread for Lecras, Hutchings, Darling, Mackenzie and Wellingham before Jetta.

95% of the team played like garbage. He's not alone in his efforts and i stand by what i said about acknowledging it hasn't worked with him.

Depth for Jetts and move on next season, don't need to keep banging on about it.

Im shocked to be sitting here

Thanks for posting that clip H2TYW, its both a very fair and accurate critique of both Jetta and our list.
I thought the panel members were very balanced, didn't exaggerate or lay on the emotive stuff, but also very accurate in their assessment of Us as a Club going forward.

We simply haven't traded well or drafted well theses last 5 years and now its come back to bit us on the arse big time.

I didn't post it mate. Loved his game last week, just not surprised by his latest efforts.

Was surprised and disappointed with most others against GWS though.

Its hard to say.... our issue currently is lack of speed out of the middle and he has speed!! but he never uses it. So if he can't get to his best then its not worth playing him. I hope he has a massive pre-season and brings his 2012 skils

I'm not ready to give up on Jetta just yet. I think for sure he needs to keep working on putting together a 4 quarter game but he's hardly alone there. He was critical in what i'd rate my 2 favourite games of the year, the extra time final against Port, and the midseason loss at Subi to the Giants.

The Giants game, despite going down by 8 points after JJK went down in the 4th, was the best look West Coast side of the season for mine. It was the most exciting ball movement we had, and Jetta was brilliant. 28 possessions, 2 gaols. And I think the reason for that was we went in with a lot of changes and for the first and only time played Jetta, Karpany, and Hill together and the 3 of them looked for each other and used each other and collectively raised the bar for foot skills and run by a decent margin. A huge part of Jetta's problem is the team just does't use him, its not ideal that you need to play a couple of the other indigenous boys to get him into the game by looking for him [and having the skill to hit him up by foot] but it is what it is. I also think it's likely Jetta walks a bit taller with a few of those boys out there and takes it upon himself to lead by example.

I can remember at the time saying it was really noticeable the chemistry on display out there and I hoped we'd experiment with it further but predictably they dropped Karpany to bring an injured Le Cras back into the side the following week against Gold Coast, then Le Cras proceeded to have his worst game of the season in arguably of most costly loss of the season. Josh Hill kicked 2 goals to 0 and laid 4 tackles to 0 and they proceed to drop Hill and reward Le Cras with another against Geelong, in which he was again goalless. From memory one brave soul asked the question on the 2 post match and Simmo got his back up and said "there's more to being a forward than kicking goals" and Hill wasn't sighted again. Long story short like any player Jetta deserves a bit of criticism but I think the faster and more skilful a side we play around him the more able he'll be able to be rewarded for finding space and using his own pace and skill. He's playing in a vaccuum a lot of the time out there, you need a least 1 other bloke with elite foot skills to get the ball in his hands.

Interesting...Brad Hill always finds space and uses his speed and elite kicking for 4 quarters and I wouldn't have thought the Dockers midfield are particularly fast or skilful.
With Jetta it's all about desire and workrate to which he doesn't have much of. He has all the physical attributes to dominate games but chooses not to.
I too though he would be awesome on the wide expanses of Subi, he burnt us all.

Well I'm no fan of the purples but to me you wouldn't say Michael Lolters isn't particularly fast or skilful. But I'm not saying its impossible for a player who is fast and skilful to be more consistent than Jetta, clearly they can be. Just saying that in his case his best game for the club was the game we played with Karpany and Hill and they seemed to have a lot of synergy out there. And we know thanks to Channel 7 being obsessed with their sudden acquisition of GPS data in the weeks leading into finals, that Jetta's repeat spring numbers were often best afield. Where it might of seemed from watching on TV that he wasn't even out there.
Being a team of absolute butchers with ball in hand doesn't help Jetta. Not saying he couldn't do more to help himself, just saying we've been playing the same structures his entire time here and the day we went away from that the most he was near best on ground. I'm keen to see what happens to his game in 2018 if Simmo comes good on his word and fields a drastically different look best 22 and they spend pre-season updating the game plan equally drastically.

Lecras honestly must have incriminating pics of simmo

Agree on everyone except Jack and Emac.

Both have been very good since mid season. Im also not roasting Jetts.

Wasn't fan of getting him but watching him, he is a burst player that will never dominate a whole game but can win you games in patches or moments of sheer brilliance. We just need him to do that every week rather than every couple of games.

Id have Cripps in the gun before Jetta. Bloke is completely useless. At least Jetta impacted 2 games that were on the line. WTF has Cripps done lately?

Cripps should be under the pump, he should never of been drafted as he has limited ability and below average skills. Simply a real shake your head thing when blokes like can even play WAFL league footy let alone AFL.
Jetta on the other hand has immense talent, he is not a rookie or a young player and simply produces very rarely and when he does it is for a small little burst in a game. He is paid as a senior player to perform consistently at a high level, he is not finding his way or still learning the caper. What you see is what you get and right now it is not even close to being good enough in my opinion.

Laid more tackles inside forward 50 than any other player this year

Lets face it, Jetta hadn't played well for Sydney for a couple of years as he looked lazy and disinterested and for that reason alone, I was against getting him to the Eagles. When the deal was done I thought we had to live with it so hopefully Jetta may lift his game playing for a side in his home state. He was then dropped and I though that may make him realise he needed to work and use his pace and skill but he did the bare minimum. During a few games he had moments where he did use the pace and skill but he still did it in patches only. Personally I'd rather have someone in who played to the best of his ability rather than someone like Jetta who just picks and chooses when he will have a go so for me I wouldn't give him a game until he changed his attitude. Even though Hill cops flack as he looks a bit casual at times, he works twice as hard as Jetta but has more expectations put on him.

Jetta may be an immense talent, but he lacks focus during games. Need to get him into positions to take the handball receive in space and get him more kicks. Easier said than done when our midfield is weak. We lacked quick spread this year. Need to get the ball into Jetta's hands and Hurn as per usual next year and get them as many opportunities to kick the ball long to a target.

For some reason people love to make excuses for his laziness because he does a couple of flashing things every few games. Whats even more confusing is the club seems happy with it. We should expect that all our players put in 100% for 120 minutes every game, regardless of ability. Richmond and the Dogs have proven that you can have an average to good list and still win it on the pure will to win and you must do that with ALL the 22 blokes on the field busting their behind for each other and the jumper.

What confuses me is that Jetta gets lambasted for it yet a lot of other players get free passes. Is he inconsistent? Yes. But I'd say the same of 80% of our players throughout 2017. Maybe it is his naturally laconic nature that pisses people off, but that doesn't excuse targeting Jetta alone.

In his mid-season stretch Jets was running very hard and had repeat sprint efforts. He doesn't always get used. This needs to change, as we are a better side with the ball in his hand. He has a lot to offer this club still. Simpson needs to be more creative in using him, too.

Don't get me wrong I think Lamb and players of his ilk are just taking the piss and need to be dumped or at least read the riot act. The reason I rip on the likes of Jetta is because he is so talented, and to see him not perform at his potential is disappointing. If we are serious of building sustained success then all our blokes have to bust their ass in all on field scenarios regardless of ability.

I am not sure that many players are getting free passes CC. Masten cops it, Wellingham cops it, Darling cops it, Cripps cops it, Le Cras cops it, Priddis copped it (still does) but for other reasons. For me, the biggest issue is he has simply been too inconsistent (more so than most others - the entire time he has been an Eagle) and there comes a point where we give up. But that will be at the end of next year if he doesn't improve.

I think one of the reasons people are more vocal on Jetta is that his best is so good that people are frustrated we don't see more of it (unlike say with Masten whose best really isn't electric like Jetta's). I am not sure what the answer is, as I don't think it is laziness with Jetta. He does run both ways and have repeat sprints etc and isn't used properly at times but at the end of the day, he isn't impacting anywhere near enough often enough and we can't afford to continue to carry any players like that whether Jetta, Wellingham, Le Cras or Masten etc.
