Interesting post eromsil. Saw Macca last night and he'd just got back from 1 week (including last weekend) up at the Murry. If you can guess the location, I'll believe your story. If you can't, you're full of shit.

AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Not quite sure about that, i think the clubs won close to 20 premierships in seniors in the last 40 years, and shane young coached a flag in the LPFL a couple years before Robbie came. Will be interesting to see how the new blokes go tho.
dont care where there been Mcormick,Burns,Grigg and Pring there washed up should go well running the drinks...........
i also over the weekend heard an ex natte coach talking up new ways at rokewood. seemed he wasn't happy with what had happended at rokewood over past 12 months whilst coached by wilson and blackford. seems to belive that he will be the saviour, although this might just be the person he is. i hadn't met jmac before the weekend and would be quiet happy if i didn't again - sorry mate. remember loose lips sink ships and you have just come on board as captain...

I am heavily involved in the Maryborough Football Club and it saddens me that we have gone through such lean years in recent times having to play kids who aren't ready for BFL as we can't hold the older players who should be helping guide the young ones through.
Prime examples of this are a few of the older contingent at Natte who came into MFC demanding big money, then left as soon as they got their flags. Many years ago we had; Clint Ross, Trav Ross, Brent Mortlock, Jack Cossar and others all playing in sucessful sides but as soon as the following years look ominous they packed there bags to go fill their wallets back home. This left the club with huge debt and no players!
If you look through the record the trend has repeated itself with Steven Ross, James Mcnamee, Lee Stewart, Mat Stiles etc . all playing then leaving as well, the only thing i give these guys credit for is three of them played for nothing with the other being paid next to nothing. Which was due to the club was still paying debts from the above generation in 98' & 99'.
What strategies do you think can be put in place to reduce the amount of money required to keep players and have a more constant level of sucess?
Thoughts?
Boo Hoo Leak!, No sympathies from me for the M.FC.
They have walked over clubs from the surrounding district for years.
What are you saying, these players should have stayed at Maryborough all of their playing careers?
They were Natte footballer’s, surely they should be able to return to their home club to pass on their major league experience to the next generation of Natte players.
The Maryborough FC r*ped the Natte FC of most of their better players during the 90’s and gave them nothing back in return. Just as they did to every other club in the district.
It was always a one way street when dealing with the MFC.
I am not saying it is like that now, but it was for many years.
The reason they were left with huge debt and no players was their own fault, and in particular a certain bloke who is no longer involved with the club.
No prizes for guessing who.
The MFC were the ones who overspent, it is their own fault!
Perhaps you should look a bit closer to home Leak, rather than blaming others for your own clubs stupidity.
Spot on, they made there bed now they can lie in it!!
They were the ones throwing the money around...
always been difficult to deal with, not letting player go where they want etc by rejecting every clearance untill it gets to arbatration....
i know who u areCan any1 tell me how illabrook look this year and if they any recruits.
Thanks
i know who u are
I ran into a bloke from Ararat today and I asked him that very question, They have re-appointed Bill Bell as coach, he was not sure if they had picked up any players of note but said that thay had been getting verygood numbers and training veryhard just beofre XMAS.I would like to see the Eagles fire a few shots this year, the LPFL certainly needs to have them firing, I was impressed by the young eagles last year when i saw them play Lexton, the young kids were beaten and beaten up but still came back for more. Can anyone tell me who are the coaches for Skipton, Lexton, Illabrook and Ararat this year?
Also, any news on new players coming or going from LPFL for 2008?
Its good to finally have interleague back. Bit strange the timing of it though being played after round 4 very early in the seasonI see on the Lexton Plains web site that they will be playing the South West District FNL in Interleague Football & Netball at Coleraine on Sat May 10th.

Looks pretty good, I have heard that Navarre have picked up some very handy players from Stawell. Ararat will be looking for stronger performances from their young list and I dont know much about Lexton ( except that they have been having internal problems), CL ,Rokewood, Skipton should be strong, Natte should be around the mark despite their loses.Good to see the draw is out. Natte playing CL round 1 and Skipton in round 2 will make life very difficult for them to make top 3. 6 Games against the perennial benchmarks will make things interesting.
Any thoughts on a ladder for next year?
I've got CL, Skipton and Rokewood as the top 3 in no particular order.
CL should be on fire seeing they are training early and the 4 game head start they gave the comp last year won't happen again. Have recruited very well from all reports but they lost Rob Waters who I highly rate as a Coach.
Skipton should be pretty devastated after last year's finals campaign. Belted by Natte then losing a heartbreaker to CL should have them motivated for a big 2008. I have not heard a single word in regards to their recruiting.
Rokewood would be in the same boat as Skipton. They have recruited well too.
Illabarook and Natte to make up the 5.
Illabarook needs to maintain their list and keep playing the excellent team footy they are known for. A few recruits would make them very dangerous but I think they lack the guns to do damage in the finals.
Speaking to a some people out of Natte and they are pretty confident they will be a better team in 2008. I can't see it happening. Tough draw and lost all their fire power. Rumours are that they have recruited very well though and with a couple of potential league B&F players coming into the line up.
Lexton, Ararat and Navarre to round out the 8.
Who knows where these teams will go? I never saw enough of them to comment and I can't see them bridging the gap to make finals.
How's my aim?

have heard that Navarre have picked up some very handy players from Stawell.
From what i hear the 2 coaches at Navarre are very accomplished players. Ben Martin is the wimmera interleague ruckman and Damien Scott a hard tough onballer. Jarrod Bibby returns as a/c and LPFL medalist, and 3-4 other recruits have signed on, Navarre could be the surprise recruiter.
Add Josh Richmond and possibly former coach Zane Bigmore both having long term injuries last year and the hoppers seem not all that far away!
