Seeing as Lidia discussion is cropping up across multiple threads, let's have us a thread for people who want to discuss her contribution to Australian politics.

It should go without saying but seeing as she's a bit of a beacon for controversy - for a variety of reasons - let's just remind ourselves what the board rules are around racism and sexism, shall we?

Go nuts.

What’s the relevancy to what I posted? I am not calling her a liar or saying she that shouldn’t have justice for her alleged trauma

I am just question why she chose to use parliament privilege as a venue to air the allegations where there were other avenues to follow up the allegations so that the perpetrators can actually face legal consequences for their actions

Perhaps she has observed that the AFP have become a LNP/newscorp clown show in recent times?

Perhaps who really knows

The point still stands that there were other options including the parliament ethics board ..I don’t know the answers but I outlined my concerns about using parliament privileges in this manner

I mean she did go and talk to everyone two years ago when it happened.

Are you really asking why she spoke up in the senate when he was giving a speech about supporting and protecting women from abuse?

This is 100% a Liberal party screw up. The Liberal Party picked this week to weaponise the Brittany Higgins all edged rape and then when it came to making a statement in the Senate the Liberals chose a know sex pest to make the statement.

WTF did they think was going to happen.

If anyone else (assuming they are clean) makes that statement then none of this happens.

But they chose Van.

This is 100% an own goal.

What makes you think Dutton knew about Stoker? Or anyone else knew about her for that matter?

She stated on her statement it was kept confidential.

Perhaps Van shouldn't have been on the LNP sexual assault weaponisation committee.

Look what he made her do!

MPs are like gossipy old queens, like the Higgins case, anyone who says they weren't aware of this is lying.

I’m not defending him or the Libs , and as hypocritical that it may appear that Van was speaking on this issue it still doesn’t detract away from my concerns that parliamentary privilege could be used by ANYONE as a means to air untested allegations at anyone for personal gains

Except they were not untested allegations. Why do you think Morrison made him move his office away from Lidia after it was raised previously?

What do you think she has to gain from this?

Van and the Libs being hypocrites is nothing new , it really doesn’t address the actual point I was making

That's a question to ask Scott Morrison. Did you know his good friend and mentor is also known for covering up sexual assaults?
The point I was trying to make was that if Linda was unhappy with that response there were other avunea to follow up the allegations rather than just a workplace response

I am well aware if the Libs background with sexual assault , you have me confused that I’m defending them

I’m not defending him or the Libs , just stating my concerns about parliamentary privileges
No you're just trying to make the conversation about how a victim spoke up being not to your liking.

More concerned about process than actions it seems.
