News Lions Board Spill - update: Board Dispute Resolved

Gee, imagine a mystical, magical world where a supporter advocacy group isn't required...where a club freely and happily engages fully with its fans and vice versa...where the club gives its fans their say on matters of cultural importance like, say the jumper...where the league holds true to its promise of fixturing 6 games per year in Melbourne.

At this rate The Lion's Roar seems to be putting itself out of a job, but I suspect the people who run it couldn't be happier about that. They don't seem like the self-aggrandising showboat type who make it all about themselves. But maybe they're just doing it wrong?

Our site is far more active than Lion's Roar which has all the vitality of a morgue. Restore The Lions' Pride will be very active in the next few weeks and in the lead-up to the AGM and after that into next year. If Lion's Roar is found out during this EGM process to be a tool for those incumbent directors (Power/Williams) my tip is that it will probably cease to exist shortly after.

I remember the TV footage. Henry walking around the Gabba handing out pamphlets to consider changing the jumper back to his beloved Fitzroy Lion ... only to be taken away by security guards.

I'm probably understating things a bit, but I think there is something very fishy going on at the Lions. I see conspiracy, conflicted interests, cronyism and self preservation, with the most likely intent to protect personal financial gain, or to conceal a money trail. When the dust settles a million stories will be told, and hopefully everyone stays out of the courts. One thing I do know, is that for all his faux justifications, and assertions of putting the club first, Angus will not be at the helm next year. The damage done runs way too deep. You should really try to cut back on these slimy backhanders to TLR, they have done far more than what you can even dream of. The more you antagonize/bait TLR you'll lose even a semblance of credibility, if you ever had any in the first place.

You are being called out for what you really are, an opportunist who is whoring himself out by sticking a Fitzroy Lion emblem and imaginary 80% spending. Trying to divide and rule the support base here and you're failing so badly.

Preaching to the choir here, but this Pinskier is trying to take a careful middle ground and thereby muddying our whole EGM approach. He agrees that Leigh is the answer but doesn't want to back what Leigh has proposed (in terms of directors), tried to recruit TLR in the background and when they refused - turned on them. He has come up with an spending guideline with no estimate.

Most of all, he has refused to give a straight answer on where he managed to get all details about members with voting rights in particular. Considering the timing - he came to spotlight a day before EGM - people already are skeptical about him. But we have been fair when we started off, giving him an opportunity to explain.

No answers so far other than baiting TLR and some email=road sign drivel, he's set himself up to be ripped to pieces.

EDIT: just to add, whatever Leigh does or Voss did - even if it blows up in their faces - you can always be sure they only had the best interests of the club at heart.

Henry - you may recall me mentioning in an article not that long ago that I thought Voss would probably not have his contract renewed. I mentioned how I fired myself after several years of not making the finals at this great Club and that coaching is often a numbers game.
