Posted in the Coach for 2014 thread, but it probably belongs here....

I'd suggest that if Lethal topples the Board, and Roos is a definite no, then it is not beyond possibility that if Lethal said to Vossy "I'll be the Football Director, I want you back as the Coach" that it could happen.

Also, good to see the name Ross Thornton mentioned in the potential list of people involved. There is nothing wrong with former players (Lions, Bears or Roys) who have organisational and business skills, involved in the Board.

I think an important thing to note is that some of the board members on this new ticket still voted to sack Voss. This would appear to be more about the way it was handled as well as a chance to try and put an administration in place that appeals to the Paul Roos types. This will not see a reversal of the Voss decision... Let us make that clear, not waste any time discussing that, and move on. Vossy is gone.

You can bet your life the AFL have their hands in this too. Has been known for a while they were not a fan of our current CEO. No surprise this comes out in advance of the AFL commission meeting next week which will decide on a financial assistance package.

As a side note, if this new ticket promises a transparent poll on the guernsey design, they will storm over the line, if they weren't going to already.

This could be the start of a real regeneration of this footy club. I'm really excited.

Obviously a blatant lie.....rocks should be thrown at Angus wherever he walks in Brisbane....

Johnson said the board reached a unanimous decision not to renew Voss's contract for the first time on Tuesday.

Finally! Feel like only good can come of this. It's very comforting to know there are influential people out there who will and are fighting for our footy club.

TBG, Q - was the vote on Voss "unanimous", or was it "right we've got a majority, but we've got to be seen as it being a unanimous decision"?

Hard to answer that without being the fly on the wall. But I'm just wondering if Lethal has sounded out some of the Board (Power and Williams) if he thought it wasn't a unanimous decision, with the handling of it the straw that broke LEthal's back so to speak....

Best news I've seen in a while.

I'd be very doubtful that this would lead to Voss being brought back though, but at least we'd have some football people in charge of the club.

**** I love Lethal! He could well and truly save this club twice in 15 years.

If my suspicions the AFL are involved are true, bank on Michael Conlan being our CEO very soon after the election.

Couldn't agree more.

His pedigree is well like at AFL HQ level. Being an ex-player and club life member, a bonus. As mentioned above, Ross Thornton's name has also been mentioned, and Ross played with Mick for many years - infact they retired on the same day together as winners of the 1989 Reserves Premiership.

Exactly how I'm feeling. Such a great man to have on our side as fans.

Yeah, a perception of board solidarity was pretty important. Doesn't necessarily follow that the entire board was comfortable with it.

Then again, they were obviously comfortable enough not to resign based on the decision. If they were completely in support of Voss, then they could have stood down in protest.

I think TBD is ultimately right - Voss aint coming back as coach. At least not for a few years!

Keep thinking about some comments from Lethal over the past few months.... like "its hard getting good people to come onto the Lions Board, its different to getting people onto MElbourne based club boards where they are queueing up...."

Also - I've been reading his book, and I'm up to 1999(!). One thing for sure is that when he takes to a Club, his passion for that club is phenomenal. The change from Hawthorn to Collingwood didn't mean he didn't forego his former 'passion', but clearly once he's onboard, he's on for good.

That wouldn't matter. Once they've allowed themselves to be publicly represented as okay with Voss' sacking, they can't reappoint him as coach. His position would be constantly under scrutiny.

Not saying that Roos isn't the priority..... I'd suggest clearly it is. And its interesting that Lethal has said in the media of recent that he'd said he'd never coach again and bingo, ended up being convinced about the Lions in a short while when it felt all the ducks were in place. Also outlines this in his book - ie. In order to get him over the line to coach the Lions, Lethal essentially said to the Lions "these are the people I want with me, this is what I want to do in terms of development and spending, I'm in charge of Football and my word is the word on Football - so if we can't do it that way then I'm not in etc".

I think he sees a lot of his situation pre-Lions coaching in where Roos is up to.

But - and I say but.... if Roos is definitely and definitively not going to coach again. Then can I see Lethal employing someone without head coach experience? Probably not. And I'd think if the best option then is Voss, then Lethal is probably the only man who could convince him to re-join.
