I know this is unlikely to happen.. but imagine the delicious irony if Martin features significantly in the Brownlow count on the basis of his second half of the year, but wasn’t in the preliminary squad of 40 for AA. Rocky and Hanley are going to get a lot of votes in the second half of the year, so I guess the best Martin can do is pick up 6 or 7 votes. Still has the potential to highlight the weakness in the AA process.

PS - AA slection would be a nice acknowledgement of Patfull's body of work. I dont expect it to happen though.

Getting Brownlow votes has very little relevance to AA. AA is about a consistent season wheeled Brownlow's can be won based on 7-8 standout games.

Martin - no. Not enough games IMO. I reckon they will only go with one ruck.

Rockliff - maybe. I personally have him in there but he's been playing in a poor side which makes it harder. That inside mid role is going to be really competitive.

Patfull - will be robbed. Absolutely should be there but won't.

Green - highly unlikely but geez, I reckon he's been one of the better small forwards this year given the lack of supply to our forward line.

AA nominations tend to follow a year behind performance especially for teams like us down the bottom of the ladder with little media presence. Therefore Rockliff will probably be in the squad and possibly in the final side. Patfull has been getting a bit more recognition this year surprisingly which may see him make the squad as well. Vossy has been praising him a lot on SEN which may have been part of that, media seems to be a bit more aware of him. Agree with POBT on Martin not playing enough games.

During a game earlier this year in commentary, Lynch was prodding Ricciuto about Hanley not making AA last year. Ricciuto responded that he was certainly in the discussions, but the gap between his best and his worst was too wide. Valid point or not, I assume that will stand as the impression the selectors have of him, though Ricciuto is no longer a selector. I'm not sure I'd see this season as noticeably more consistent than last from him, so I don't love his chances either.

I notice SA still have a rep at selection, http://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/2014-07-23/tredrea-joins-allaustralian-selectors Jackovich still flying the flag for WA. Why no specific Qld or NSW selectors? Jacko always makes sure Freo and WCE are well represented in final team.
