Adz, you have to do some more research brother, GWS will take Grundy, who has been their other Ruckman.this year other than Giles? Gold Coast have Jager O'Merra already stitched up, Aswell as Harley Bennell, David Swallow works well outside, they are just as likely to bid on Viney as he would seriously compliment them well, they don't need a ruckman, so if GWS take Whitfield Toumpus may go at two. This is not Chad Wingard, Toumpus is big enough to play AFL tomorrow, has outstanding leadership qualities (not just captain because he was the best player) and has stood out at senior level already. We aren't a hope in hell in getting Jimmy.

Prrsonallt I think it will go

Grundy
Whitfield
Toumpus
Stringer
Western Bulldogs
Port Adelaide

I'd find it hard to believe Whitfield not going at pick no. 1. Agree that GWS need another ruck, but GC are far from having ruck stocks settled also, especially with Zac Smith dropping back down to earth this year. But either way, it makes no difference, as the GWS and GC picks are settled on non-Viney picks, hence Melbourne are free to take two others with their first picks. Melbourne need KPFs and KPDs though and already have some good young contested mids, hence they could let Toumpas slide to us, but don't think it'll happen.

The more i see the up coming draft the more i get pissed of at the afl etc
We are embarrassing at the moment, have been for a few years, fans leaving in droves, money a worry, worst 3 or 4 seasons i can remember and we get bloody pick 5 or 6 and not even have a shot at the best SA footballer in the draft.
Im sure the last few years and the up coming draft picks of so so mids will turn us around, because of your stupid over the top compensation picks and your over board set up of the new teams!!
Hard to believe fans are getting pissed off and dont want to come watch our games etc

Nooo, Melbourne have some good KPB, Frawley and Rivers with Watts looking promising as a Key Defender. Luccas Cook, Jake Fitzpatrick, Howe and Stringer with Watts again, a possible Key Forward, looks intimidating enough to kick a good score. Toumpus is exactly what they need, a pacey, skilful winger. Whitfield may go 2, but if he doesnt I don't know if Grundy is a sure bet to the God Coast. Dixon, Smith and Georinge, their deficiency is in the middle and KPP, one of Whittfield, Toumpus Wines or Viney will be calling Sunny Gold Coast home next year.

gc desperately need a quality contested on-baller.

viney and wines fit that mold perfectly. they wont be shy of taking whitfield though. i reckon gc and gws will have a bit of chat about gc's pick. gws with the chance to nab picks 1 + 2 again while gc walk away with martin and go for a contested ball-winner with another pick they get from caddy maybe or another trade?

ill be shocked if gws dont take grundy. i think they had his champs battle with longer in mind when they passed on longer last year. take grundy let him bulk up and learn while giles shoulders the shit years then unleash.

melbourne need a bit of everything to be honest but their most pressing need is skilled footballers of any description. frawley and garland are 2 good key backs. the idea they could add plowman as a rebounding defender as well as toumpas or wines is sound in logic. they would dive on grundy if gws did pass. i reckon they would have key forwards on the brain with clarke 25ish and no other established guys up there, still dont see them reaching for one though. as i said, much like us they need to bring skills in fullstop. best skilled player come on down.

yeah , well i doubt in the history of the game any team has ever ever finished as low as we have over the past 5 years and had such poor picks.

i would say that once ( how long has the draft been? 20 odd years) is exceptional circumstances.

in fact we have finished

13th, 10th, 10th, 16th, and currently sit 14th.

from those positions we earnt picks

4 and 22, 8 and 24, 16 and 35, 6, 28 and 33 and we are on track for picks 7 and 28.

that's a complete embarassment when you consider the draft was implemented to help teams down the bottom climb back up again. still, we havent done ourselves any favours with the way we have used or developed those picks but if you take carltons, collingwoods, hawthorns or st kildas most recent block of non-finals years and gave them picks at those above numbers then they dont have any of their premierships ild guarantee it.

from the 2000 to 2006 drafts which would fill the core of most teams today there would have been teams that finished at the bottom of the 8 and played finals football with comparable picks to 8 and 24, 16 and 35, 7 and 28 lol. pick 9 maybe back a few if a couple of priority picks so pick 11 and 27 wouldve been the norm for someone finishing 8th.

My end of year list changes is getting larger every week:

Senior List:
Goneski: Hitchcock, Salopek, Banner, Rodan, Salter, Phillips, Bre.Ebert, D.Stewart, Logan

Promoted Rookies: Pfeiffer, Jonas

Rookie List:
Goneski: D.Butcher, Webb, Irons

Retained: Curnow (3rd year)

*This list doesn't include players out of contract who may leave
**Matt Thomas survives as he was the only player to give a shit against GWS

All in all this leaves us with 6-8 senior list spots and 3-5 rookie spots.

why promote pfeiffer? just keep him as a rookie. as much as he has tried real hard he is one of the problems with this club. we have a shitload of players that as hard as they try they cant execute skills required of the game. i know we can only change over so many one year at a time but stuff it, keep him on the rookie list if you must keep him.

Should be gone and will be: Rodan, Salter, Phillips, D Stewart, Logan

Shouldn't be gone but will be: Salopek, Banner

Should be gone but won't be: Thomas, maybe Brettbert (don't mind him staying if it's a one year contract, he's played exclusively as a HFF and he's back to the SANFL when somebody taller who can play the same role is in good form).

Upgrade: Pfeiffer, Jonas

I don't get why people rubbish Pfeiffer's skills. His kicking and ball-handling were crap when he first started with us but they both improved out of sight once he got an extended stay in the side.

i can see a massive list cull over the next 3 years hey.

seriously must get rid of at least 8 this year. get our hands on a bunch of 3rd and 4th rounders. get that sumner guy in. can run and kick so thats already better than most at our club. we all know we are gonna bring in some average so small an upgrade on our crap players who really gives a shit monfries types in free agency anyway so it wont all be kids.

lol, what you mean is,

compared to the rest of our team,

pfeiffers skills dont look half shite.

not exactly a glowing endorsement.

he hits packs, wins some loses some but tends to be around when the ball is there so without watching him too closely he either reads it real well or works hard around the ground or i suspect a little bit of both. his kicks are pretty dinky, not great penetration, not great accuracy, makes skill errors like all of our team. over-commits in a contest regularly ( but so do another half a dozen players much worse)

lol, i swear between brebert and pfeiff we have 2 of the shortest players to widest turning circle ratios in the league. if pfeiff doesnt kill a contest in the initial attempt he gets beaten easily.

I have no basis for this rant other than trying to protect my buddy! :p

ild love to see salter stay but he has barely made the park in 2 years. lol, is our medical staff worse than wwt's? he was fine til he came to us i reckon.

maybe we have ye olde healer.

player walks in , " hey doc ive just got this.."

" ah i see, "

pulls out the hacksaw

"ummmm, ild rather not doc"

" ah, you be wanting the witch doctor then do ye?"

" hey doc, just a question,... since i limped in on my left leg why did you go to amputate at the shoulder?"

"ah so now you be an expert hey? tell me then where would you amputate??"

Who cares

I would be neither happy or sad if we get Monfries. He's the definition of 'average B grader'. Would fit in better on the other side of Port Rd.

He's AFL standard. That places him ahead of 30 players on our list. Would be a welcome addition if he can be snared under free agency.

He is a good forward tagger who keeps defenders accountable, so I suppose that would be handy to help contain the regular beltings we get from opposition half-backs.

If we got him for free he'd be handy, but whether I'd want him on the list or not would depend on how it affects our FA compo if one of them walks out on us.

He would surely do that role better than Thomas!

Very rare to get a player of his height in the AFL to be as slow with as wider turning circle.

Can't remember the teammate, but Gus handpassed to a teammate with an opponent right on his tail, then instead of blocking, ran past for the receive, allowing the player to get tackled and turning the ball over.

He seems to do it a lot, and often runs to an opponent despite a teammate being there, opening up a spot in the zone, and worse, a player.

The most frustrating aspect of his game is that he loses his feet far too easily in a contest ad is then beaten easily when the ball hits the deck. This hurts us badly because on most occasions his opponent sweeps up too easily and we are stung going the other way.
