There is a poster I haven't seen for some time that was very oddly invested in Angus Litherland and went a bit mental when he was let go and swore he would come back to haunt us. Amusingly they even doubled down when Litherland was playing WAFL still claiming we were wrong.
Billy Hartungs Dad?

Seriously though you do get posters with personal connections to players who come in like a tornado and then disappear forever once the inevitable delisting occurs.

Thats one goal in every game not one goal a game, he average .3 less goals a game than Aaron Naughton who the media wont stop talking about, one was a top ten draft pick the other was a pick in the 70's, one team was a top 4 side the other a bottom 4 side, ones been injured and never a had a full preseason in his career the other has only missed 9 games since being drafted and had no major injury concerns.

Mitchell Lewis is just doing fine... better than fine actually.
Some good points -

Please don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Lewis and can see so much untapped potential. Only that I feel he has stagnated somewhat and could have kicked on a little more than he has. This may have been due to the type of game plan we employed, and also the fact that TOB seemed to be preferred in the forward line from time to time. I'm looking for the planets to align for him this year. With his build and potential I want him to the a player that keeps the opposing backmen awake at night.

My pick for most improved this season, good mover, clean hands and skilful & looks fit from pre season pics . Has the swagger, I am liking him as our best forward and in time overtaking Kosi & Lewis. 🤞🤞
I still have a gut feel that Kosi may end up in the backline. Especially if Lewis hits his straps and Jeka comes on, then there is Callow who could end up a swingman - only a gut feel partly based on the fact that we don't appear to be looking at KPD's.

Not sure one goal a game from our no 1 forward is going to get us into premiership contention. Its been hard to watch our primary means of scoring being just a scrap to be able to conjure goals. We need to build a plan around our monster forwards to give them every opportunity. I'm really looking for some dominant performances from Lewis like all good forwards have from time to time.
Yeah it’s just not good enough from a 22 yr old. He should be up there with the best forwards in the league by now.

FINAL 2021 UPDATE:

Here is the official state of our list going into 2022! The club has confirmed that Jeka and Moore were upgraded to the senior list (along with Reeves earlier in the piece) and I'm 99% sure that I have this nailed by now (although as usual if you see a mistake, please provide a source and I will fix it up :) ).

What this means is that we currently have one optional rookie spot available for any potential SSP (January 10 - March 9) or MSD (June 1) pickups, although that can increase if we have any early retirements or LTIs in that time too. Any future updates from me will no longer have the players leaving from this year.

What is striking to me is that we have really given the list a big turnover across the last 3 years. We are down to 5/42 players who are 30+ as well as 8/42 who are 28+ and 11/42 who are 26+. If we fielded the oldest 22 players that we have today, we would still be playing a team with a 22yo, 7 x 23yo's and and a 24yo. If we fielded our youngest 22 players that we have today, we would have one single 23yo as the old-head in that team. Obviously that all means nothing if too many of that group ultimately don't make the grade, but there is definitely reason to be optimistic given some of the signs that we have seen already.

I’m curious to know which positions people think are left as a need for the Hawks, and who could train with the Hawks to fill those needs, either for next years SSP, MSD or even for 2023 after another year of development?

I was thinking:
- specialist small fwd: Jamal Stretch... looks exciting and could be a great fit at the Hawks.
- a specialist defensive FB: Caleb Lewis or Blake Schlensog.

I like Stretch and Fejo Jnr

Thanks as always for this awesome visual Scrads.

That's a lot of list turnover in one year - anyone happen to have the # of delistings/retirements from all clubs at their fingertips? I think we'd be towards the top end!

The potential of this list compared to 12 months ago is far stronger.

Look at the names and ages of everybody from Hardwick down. Potential decade+ players covering all positions on the ground.

I'm still pretty staggered how people rate this list as one of the worst in the competition. We've addressed kay areas of concern in 2 off-seasons. I'd argue our list has greater scope for improvement, greater depth and more promising young players than the likes of Geelong, Collingwood, Adelaide, Carlton*, St.Kilda and West Coast just to name a few.

*They have genuine stars at the top end but the bottom 6 is really lacking and they haven't nailed all their top end draft picks in the last 5 years. Of which they've had plenty of chances.

Surely DGB and Brockman are the priority signings.

Interesting to see other clubs have already announced player on training for there final Rookie spots. No one at The Hawks as yet?
Hopefully Paul Haasbroek gets a training spot at the club he could not of been far off if we nominated him?

I dare say he was goign to be a bigger chance if Butler wasnt drafted. hence why we havent rushed into putting him on as a Cat B

Looking ahead, changes to the list at end of 2022 will be much more difficult than the last couple years.

I wouldn't be shocked to see BB retire depending on how his body holds up this year. Granted with Reeves there he might be able to play around the ground more and preserve himself a bit. If DGB has a breakout year it might make it hard for Hartigan to get another contract also.

Shiels is another that could be interesting. If some of the young midfielders start making a presence for themselves he would be the most likely experienced midfielder to make way for them. As big a fan as I am of Howe and Morrison I think it is huge years for them also if any of the younger mids start to push for selection on a consistent basis.

Well the age profile is certainly better now for a side that has been off the pace over the last few years.
We look to have filled gaps and have all the key spots covered but the boys still need to be able to play at a higher standard.

We wont know that for some time yet.

On paper it does look promising.

Lewis reminds me of major daw.
All the traits, shows glimpses, but can't get a good run on

We have gone from the oldest list in 2019, to the 3rd oldest in 2020, to 9th oldest in 2021 to the 3rd youngest entering 2022. Only Adelaide and North Melbourne are younger. There are lots of questions marks due to the younger demographic. The biggest one we have now for a list management strategy is our key position stocks. Can the likes of lewis, Kosi, Jekka, Reeves, DGB and perhaps Callow form a spine? No doubt key positions players will be targeted next year. This draft obviously wasn't the one for that and so we prioritised the strengths being the midfield. I have a feeling that we're going to surprise in 2022 as Clubs won't be familiar with Sam's game plan and we have a heap of returning stars. Sydney rose last year based on having a healthy list and the rise and confidence of their young brigade. It's going to be exciting to watch the nest phase of Hawthorn.
Spot on .....
