I know teams would have asked the question. But if a Bont, Petracca, Oliver etc. were available the Tigers would have made room with their cap and happily handed over trade capital.

That’s part of the difference between Mitchell and the top mids, for me at least.

ironically Dusty was available once…perhaps

How Sam improves or transitions the midfield over next 3 years is one of his biggest tasks.

The midfield needs to improve. Maybe some tweaks makes it slightly better (but not good enough) but personnel change has to happen.

Would like to see Nash, Jai, Finn get 10+ games plus a taste to our draftees - but how that done is anyone’s guess. We can’t have JOM/Mitch/worpel/shiels clogging up the flanks in secondary roles they are average at. But rolling out our current midfield for next 24 months just means we tread water and create a bigger cliff.

Absent injury senior mids may have to play at box hill if we want any of the next tier to develop. It’s the hard calls we’ll need to make at some stage (and made harder by failure to trade anyone). At same time none of senior mids will want to diminish their value if they see a trade coming in 12 months. A big test of Mitchell’s man management skills awaits.

Expect some red hot internal scratch match games. Given Mitchell’s style he may just simply put them head to head and best performed gets games (irrespective of reputation).

BB JOM Mitchell Wingard (and shiels) vs Reeves Nash Jai Finn (worpel). I wouldn’t be surprised if by end of preseason the younger group gives them a run for their money - won’t rack up as much ball but could give them massive headaches in clearences, smothering defensive pressure and forward run on transition.

Shiels, BB bye bye.

Was it the beginning of 2007 or 2008 pre season the young group defeated the older group mainly through running power. As you say a good problem to have
Hawks also had issues running out games in 2020 an 2021. Maybe not enough players in the mid age demographic and some injured too. Perhaps some rotation helps to fix this

Yeah, start college next year.

But as a whole it's still true, watch too much footy, watch it every game plus i like to rewatch games.

All of the coverage over games, talking to people who know more than i do about things and so on.
Mate, you’re not the only one that does this. You need to take a step back sometimes and realise you don’t know everything.

We all love footy here, some watch more than others and that’s cool. But you get into these arguments and cannot see that you might be slightly wrong.

Just chill.

Yes and me and others are just giving opinions. It's fine.

It’s not fine when 4 pages builds up of an argument that could be finished in 4 posts. You’re allowed an opinion, as is everyone. But the way you communicate and stretch the truth about things is the reason these threads get backed up by crap.
This isn’t the place to have a pissing contest of who watches more footy, who has intel, who receives videos from people that are at training etc.

True, will cop that.

You're certainly enthusiastic, but you have a long way to go to catch up to some young buck.
