Disagree with you. Mitchell covers a heap of territory and gets a lot of ball in defence (including the last line) where he creates an extra option.
I don’t disagree that he gets a lot of ball in defence. He is a very ball first player. Compare his running patterns to Scully. Scully covered more ground but got a lot less of the ball than Mitchell.

However we saw a lot more value out of Scully’s running as he was willing to run hard to open up the field for us to move the ball by creating space. Something Mitchell doesn’t do.

I have to say having had the opportunity to go watch a bunch of pre-season trainings years ago, I can confidently say that the level of insights gained from being there in person is a night and day difference between what you can get from watching videos or being told about it. And it's not at all similar to the difference between watching an AFL game live at the ground vs on TV.
That's fair enough, it's hard because i would be there at every chance if i could. But i feel i get enough information through someone sending me videos and telling me what's going on. Atleast more than most.

We will have agree to disagree on his running. Even in 2018 he wasn’t opening the game with his running, he was still playing selfish footy then. It was his contested/ clearance work that made him valuable to us.

As his clearance/contested possession game has dropped (understandably from the broken leg). His value has dropped from absolute top level to a rung or two below.

To me Mitchell’s value is not in his link up game. He gets into the wrong spots and his ball use is nowhere near creative enough for this role. Compare his ball use to Macrae and Merrett and it’s lightyears apart.

What we do agree on is that Mitchell should not be at the defensive side at centre clearances and stoppages. Because he lets the opposition walk past him.

Cool mate, i know his role because i watch him every week and have since he debuted. I watch way too much footy, i also talk to alot of people who are either in the walls at Hawthorn or have talked to them. Also just watching pre season aswell with the way the players are training.
I keep reading this as you talk to people who talk to walls

If you’re being fed videos from someone inside the club they’re going to get fired.

I think it’s time to stop the charade.

Last thing I’ll say. Mitchell was gettable this year if opposition clubs wanted him. If opposition clubs rated him even half of what you do they’d have been climbing over each other to try and get him.

Maybe there was something in no team trying hard to get him? Or even just ask non hawks about how good Mitchell was this year.

Tigers spoke to his management throughout the year, and it was always a possibility, but they had no room to move in the cap and we demanded draft capital that they weren’t willing to part with.

player type needed to be in short supply, team wanting him needed to be attractive to mitchell, team needed early picks to trade

very little overlap in those venn circles, for him or another player on offer

I know teams would have asked the question. But if a Bont, Petracca, Oliver etc. were available the Tigers would have made room with their cap and happily handed over trade capital.

That’s part of the difference between Mitchell and the top mids, for me at least.

If we was in absolutely elite form. Every team would have been wanting him. And happily payed the price to get him.

Pick 14 when he was about 5th in line at Sydney who by all reports where happy to see him go.

I’m not saying he’s not a good player now and I’d want more than pick 14 if we had traded him.

Fifth in line is what their fans said to make themselves feel better. There was only one midfielder at Sydney that was a better player (back then), and that was JPK. Parker, Jack and Hannebery weren't playing at Mitchell's level.

Mitchell will look much better once we have implemented a better game plan, and have a few better players around him. His leg injury has caused lingering issues, but we saw in the second half of last season that he was getting back to being close to his best again - high possessions, clearances, tackles and kicking goals.

I know who you're Dom... My mate knows who you're in that little city by the sea. There's no truth to you knowing people inside the club... As if so I'd know them... Send me names if it's any truth.
You know that social media is a thing right? Meeting people through it has been pretty fun.

No the people who feed videos are people who watch training. I wish I got anything more ;(
Stop lying. The club do not allow people to roll up and video training.
