Bruhn was pick 12 and probably doesn't play with Hopper and Taranto in the side

Callaghan, Hopper, Taranto, Greene, Kelly, Coniglio > Bruhn

You simply can;t ask for a high first round pick let alone bloody two first round picks when said play is the 7-9th best midfielder in the team.
He's had 24 and kicked 2 on the weekend. Will be a star. They're not dumb.

Opponent on the weekend was VFL level. If we were basing market value on that one game, Coniglio would be worth what he's being paid and Himmelberg would be a million dollar man. Bruhn will need to put in similar efforts against proper opposition to demand 2 first rounders. He is the type of player we should be considering. I recall he looked devastated when drafted to Giants (worst poker face), so wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to move.

There was a news story interviewing JOM after the trade period where he said he went away and basically waited for a phone call in case offers would come through.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I remember thinking at the time that the way he responded 100% suggested he would have been open to move if it benefited him and the footy club. He was also just as happy to stay and get started on the new era under Mitchell.

I don't believe for a second that he was as fierce in wanting to stay as Wingard and Breust were.

he was desperate to stay, like Punky and Chad he would have said no thanks

under no circumstances would he have been happy to leave but if we had have gone all Collingwood with Treloar than reluctantly the player usually would agree in the end, luckily we treat our people with respect and are not Collingwood

A
Jack Crisp has been a wonderful example of what can happen. A fine young man who has worked at his game, relied on his skill, worked at his hardness, consistentancy, and leadership.

Well done Jack.
And his durability. An amazing run which needs to be mentioned more. Obviously got himself in great nick consistently as never seems to get niggly injuries at all.

Surely we wouldn't run that gauntlet again
Nailing a 20yr old with exposed form, using a draft pick that may or may not turn out ok. Absolutely.

Worpel, MacDonald, DBG, Serong all impressive on the weekend

Would really like to see Serong, Ned Long and Saunders all get some AFL exposure in the second half of the year.

I’d argue his form hasn’t been that good, with only his game against a VFL level North showing some top line form.

He’s a pick 12 that while talented hasn’t shown a lot. A second and change would be the highest I’d go. Especially given he’s a very similar size to our other mids.

I’d back ourselves in to draft a better player with our first next year.

I’d argue that he could be our best centre clearance mid, and would be a welcome addition to Newk, Nash and Ward.

Waiting another 12months for a chance to nail a draft pick is conservative, but not without risk.

It all boils down to if Bruhn was interested. If he was, absolutely get the trade done.

I was pretty keen on him in his draft year

He's a jet. But a big Cats man apparently.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t like him in the team just not for a future first. To me he’s only worth a late first at most. Why overpay?

He has some tools but I’m not sure how he’d go with extra attention he’d get when in our team and without the protection of some of the bigger GWS mids. At least not enough to risk a potential top 10 pick.

Keep watching him this year, because his value is only rising.

Keep in mind he was recovering from a significant knee injury during his draft year (or was it just prior and led into his draft year?).

The studirs show that these injuries take at least 18 months to recover from fully.
