You won't have to wait 10 minutes. Under Hinkley you can usually tell in the first 5 minutes if the boys are interested or have bought into the "it's a tough competition and someone has to lose" mantra from our genius coach.
Then if we are switched on you have to be on a knife edge the whole game to see if that effort is enough to scrape home in a slog against our woeful game plan.

I’m so angry at this club. Going in without a recognised ruck man. It’s absolutely criminal. I can’t see how we are going to break even in the midfield with the Martin and Bolton, let alone now we will get slaughtered in the ruck. Obviously I want us to to win but part of me wants us to get flogged so we can end this Hinkley nightmare.

Considering the games aren't on at the same time its perfectly reasonable that Hayes may be ok to play on Saturday, but on Thursday night he still isn't.

Plus the demands in an SANFL game are signficantly lower. When fit he's able to play through games at the SANFL level, but he can't at the AFL level.

I hope this is true, and Hayes comes straight back in next week. I'll believe it when it happens however.

Not having any expectations tonight.. But if Shane Edwards gets injured “somehow” I would be happy.

What a very average forum name. We are port adelaide power and play in the afl Australian competition.

Totally agree. The forum name should be changed from "Port Adelaide - Est. 1870" to "Hinkley Football Club - Est. 2013"

it’s like a cult at this point. Hinkley could lose to North by 100 points and they’d find a way to justify it somehow.
Exactly! It would be this narrative of
“Well what’s Kenny to do ?!?! Hayes didn’t deserve selection and Teakles only just come in and Lycett is injured”

“ He’s just getting on with leading the team with what he has”

All spewed forth like it was as an indomitable fact as the law of conservation of energy

They’d probably even throw in a barb about Hayes letting the team down with his form ffs “can’t kick it for them”

Hoping we bring a high pressure game. Think our defence matches up well against their attack.
Our midfield wouldve been better if we had a ruckman
I hate our coach

If I had a dollar for every time Dixon has provided an effective lead in the last 5 years I could afford a down payment on a lettuce.

Dixon leads as much as anyone outside 50. Inside 50 not so much but that's because the opposition are not stupid so will always have one guy behind him and one guy in front of him. This should theoretically provide an opportunity to lace out a different forward on the lead but it normally just results in long bombs to Charlie.

Day 6 of my 7 day ISO today and not sure what I'm looking forward to the most this evening...

a) seeing Finlayson nail Ken's hyper innovative run-with-ruck role all night with his noted intensity and work rate
b) the long awaited return of the "kick it to on top of Dixon's head" playbook
c) one "Short stands tall!" outburst per quarter from commentards not fit to wipe Dennis Cometti's shoes
d) Darcy finally landing a tackle on Dusty
e) "free kick Reiwoldt!"
f) a match-defining 3 goal cameo by Jack Graham off the bench
g) Ken's post game conferencimication
h) the very strong shots of booze I'll be having just before g)
i) Friday morning's bizarrely timed 6am work call with a potential client in BCN

With the selections the way they are, I'd be playing Dixon full time in the ruck and telling him to get around the ground as much as possible in order to build his fitness base up. Have him rest in the forward line when Powell-Pepper rucks.

I'd then be telling our half backs in Bonner, Byrne-Jones, Jones, Houston and Burton to run and break lines as much as possible, which is where the Jones selection comes from. Richmond likes to press hard up in the forward line so you need guys who can run and deliver the ball out of defence, and we're going to need those half-backs to run themselves into the ground.

It's not the most elegant solution but what can you do?

Sack him

Hinkley's First Law of Mediocrity

Mediocrity cannot be created or destroyed. It can only be worked harder or longer before returning to a low potential state of stability.
