Milesi loves to pick up over agers.

Who will it be this year

Joe Fonti does sound pretty appealing from the profile that got posted, needs to work on getting more ball but he's an intercepting winger who has pace. Built like a stick from the report but he posted really good numbers at the combine.

Wish we would use a third selection tonight. There's a few on the board i like the sound of.

McAuliffe sounds like he has the traits our midfield will need
Yeah I hope we’re considering it, obviously depending on how the next 10 picks especially go but theres a lot of talent suited to us left on the board currently. Would love a big 5 player haul, Footscray is going to be fun next year

Fonti went on to blitz the Draft Combine with a ridiculous 94cm running vertical jump

so how does this work

did he get 94cm off the ground?
was it 94cm over his height of 188cm?
was it actually a horizontal jump?

Are we thinking we are likely to take two or three picks tonight?
We still have to fit Duryea and McNeil back on the list at some point, but that could be as rookies on 1-year contracts. We do have space for three picks. It might depend on whether there is anyone we had targeted still left when it comes around to our third pick (fifth overall, probably around pick 58*).

There's clearly a benefit in leaving a space open for the MSD in 2024. Both as insurance - in case we have a run of injuries to similar type players - and also for the state league players who had been ignored at draft time but are suddenly "flying" in the early part of the season. There are a few like that every season.

* Lachie Neale and Dane Swan both got drafted at pick 58! Three Brownlows between them. Is Milesi superstitious?

Because with the number of bids, trades etc that now extend every other draft pick the entire thing would run past midnight if done on a single evening. 60 picks at 5 minutes each is 5 hours, plus another hour for clubs taking their full 5 minutes to decide to place a bid they were always going to do which restarts the clock again. The AFL seeming to ensure each pick uses the full time allowance doesn't help - eg why do we need 5 minutes for the first draft pick?

The top 10 could realistically be over in about 15 minutes but instead takes about 90 minutes.
The clubs are rarely using the time to decide or work out trades though right? They’re waiting to let Fox Footy do their shitty 3 minute interviews with every player. As much as I love knowing Jed Walter’s grandmother is proud of him, just make that a different show, let clubs post to their websites directly, etc.

Sanders and Croft. Do we now have the most anglo-centric sounding team list?

And Spangher is our most exotic sounding coach.

We NEED Zane Zakostelsky for his surname alone.
We used to have Murray Zuch

In the 60s we had Murray Zuechsner and Trevor Zeltner
