A midfielder is a bit different to a KPP though. KPP who wins the sandover is going to get picked up and be decent at afl level because it happens so rarely.

I am sorry but dominating at lower levels does not guarantee anything at AFL level, that goes for all state leagues.

I am sure most clubs would take a look at him, that is very different to being a walk up best 22 at 16 clubs.

3-4 clubs happy? Gee-Syd-Melb-Freo-Bris-Dogs-Blues-Saints-Suns-Crows-Bombers would all be happy enough. Pies have Cameron/Cox and don't seem fussed losing Grundy. Richmond can probably deal with Nankervis for a while and have Soldo who is another Meek. Power have Lycett and had Finlayson being effective around the ground. Giants not great but have Preuss/Flynn that are similar to Meek. That's 15 clubs who have no real need for Meek. Sure, some might "take a look" as a decent backup, but that doesn't present Meek much upside from his current situation.

WC are stuffed but they are rolling the dice with Naitanui. There could be room for Meek at North with Goldstein near the cliff, but they still have Xerri/CCJ who are about the same as Meek. Hawthorn is really the only club that would want him because they might play 2 x rucks, and even if they don't then overtaking Reeves is Meek's best bet to be a #1 ruck.

Hawthorn have pick 49 and if they are keeping Brockman, then there is no reason to think the trade should be anything other than 49. If he was out of contract it would probably be pick 61. The only question is whether Freo want to be good samaritans, or keep him for another year as insurance for Darcy. I would do the latter.

The Sandover changes nothing, his season was his season whether it ends up with an award will not change his value.

I am fairly certain the Hawks will not be paying overs for him, if Freo decide to hold him that is fair enough and they can do that. But the club is in no position to overpay for a fringe ruckmen even if it is one with some talent.

His value would rocket, others would get interested and we wouldn't take unders in that specific scenario

Being clearly better than WAFL players will not sky rocket his value.

Also again you think list managers are not watching WAFL games? They know what he can do already whether he gets an award at state level will do nothing for this value.

Becuase we have 1 proven quality ruckmen on our list, we were forced to use Kozi in the ruck at times this year when injuries happened. Meek will create competition for that spot and depth.

Also why do people talk like it has to be just 49? swap of future picks could be involved somewhere as well if 49 isn't enough. Freo may not use 49 but it could be part of either trading for Jackson or trading back in to the Draft if Jackson uses a lot of the Dockers draft hand.

True but i still think it gets done (assuming Freo are willing to entertain letting him go).

We will lose Mitchell to Collingwood most likely, Gunston to Brisbane most likely (will get very very little for this one)

That plus our current draft hand gives us enough options i think to facilitate a trade in some way.
