Lloyd could potentially be included with the first group. Tredrea and Tarrant do not belong in the same sentence.
Agreed. Why compare 3 full forwards with 1 full forward and a pair of half-forwards?

1st group would eat the 2nd group for breakfast.lockett, dunstall and ablett proved over and over again they can perform when it counts.the same cant be said for tredrea and tarrant.

cheers!
How many premierships do the respective sides have between them?

Well, maybe I'm just stupid, but isn't one of the main reasons (besides not being FFs) Tredrea and Tarrant get talked down in comparison pretty much because of team results as opposed to personal efforts?

Probably responding to the point that one group performs in big games and the others don't...the fact only 2 players have won flags would suggest otherwise.

So one player is expected to drag the whole team to a flag?

e.g. Ablett kicking nine in the '89 grand final and the team still losing. You can't do much more than that!

No but a good performance helps. Abletts next three grand finals were average and geelong got beaten comfortably.

Because they were a one-dimensonal team! They had a few other good players in those years... but when it came down to it in the forward line, you had Billy & Ablett.

Who would you kick it to? :p

Personal efforts? When Tarrant, LLoyd and Tredrea kick or set up near on 4000 goals between them, come back and talk about individual results.

Wouldn't Carey (at his peak) be a better comparison to Tredrea and Tarrant?
You can't really judge them fairly until their careers are over. Group 1 has been there and done it, Tredrea and Tarrant still have to prove themselves over time imho.

To even get the positions right it would be :

Ablett (aka God) = Lloyd (id still take Ablett Any day of the week and twice on Matchday)

Lockett = Barry Hall ..........i know who i would take.

Dunstall (i never got my arms above my sholders and still kicked 1000 goals) = the only other Decent full forward atm is Fervola (this discounts Lynch) And i know who i would take out of fervola and Dunstall

I can't believe they have been compared with Tarrant and Tredrea.

That's a crime, surely. All three kicked 1000 goals and are legends of the game. Tarrant and Tredrea, despite playing in diffrent positions, would never have the same impact as the top three.

Llyod at the end of his career could be in that group. He is half way there I reckon.
